This the first time i heard about paintballs being shot outside in public.

Saturday April 11, 2009 CityNews.ca Staff A couple out for a stroll with their baby were sent diving for cover after someone in a car opened fire on them - with a paintball gun.

It happened at Queen and Bathurst around 5pm Saturday. Four teens were seen firing the paintballs out of a car window.

So far, one 15-year-old has been charged with assault.

While shaken up, the couple and their baby weren't seriously injured.

I don't even know what to say about this. I mean thankfully it wasn't a car full of gun toting idiots, and the parents and baby are still alive and well. But paintball guns and idiots...

I think governments should make tougher laws for paintball violence. Misuse of a marker off the field shouldn't be tolerated. Obviously if a harder sentence was given for this kind of crap maybe it'd stop happening a little bit less. I mean in Manitoba, the sentence for killing someone while street racing, is life in prision (maximum of course).

Maybe if the sentence for shooting the public up with a paintball gun should be given a sentence like attempted murder. This way fewer people would have the balls to fuck around with paintball guns?

Oh and I really don't mean to be a dick, but this should go into the "negative news" section.

I agree, I've seen firsthand the damage a marker can do when mishandled and misused. Only problem with that is, how involved do we want lawmakers to get into our sport?

Talk to your MP (at least in Canada that's what you should do). They represent you and your area in the national government. Unfortunately this is really all you can do. Maybe talk to city hall about this.

They should be charged as though they were using real guns.
However given the how stupid some of our legistlators are, we could find ourselves with the paintball equivelant of the federal gun registry.
Don't forget that it's Canada.....we never miss a chance to legislate the fun out of everyhting.

I'm not satisfied with this. I get so angry when I here news about this. So many idiots in the world these days. More damage inflicted for the reputation of paintball, most damage in Toronto. Catch all the people involved and charge 'em. I'll be happy then.

Don't get me wrong, these guys are complete idiots and should be charged with 3 count of assault with a weapon each, but is it just me or do you get more media coverage if you shoot someone in a driveby shooting using a paintball gun than a real one?
