As you may or may not know, Tyger posted a video on Youtube in an effort to debunk the myth of "paintball snipers" and to respond to those who have passionately disagreed.
He's also opened the video to responses on the subject

Here's his video:

There's been a few responses (Including my own) on the subject.

littlekidwithdahat posted saying that with increasing technology, it's possible that a paintball sniper could exist.
(When it pauses about half way through, you can click the X in the corner of the info box, then push play to continue the video)

I (BrowningThirty) posted saying that the entire debate just stems from the misuse of the word "sniper".

MrRAZRBAKK posted saying that there's no way and that paintball just isn't meant for any military resemblance.

So what's your opinion on the matter?

Personally, I thing the term "paintball sniper" is a misnomer. Sniping only works because the real snipers are able to remain at long distances from the target, while in paintball that's not really possible. I think a better term for people with that mindset is "paintball ninja," because the sneaking around part is the only real transferable skill between paintball and the military.

Well you have to know the name of the origins of the word and what they do currently.

EDIT: I use first strike rounds, which I consider to be a sniper round, but that's just my opinion. I don't call my self a sniper. I call myself a recon man. The whole job of a sniper is to gather intel, and take out HVT's. Paintball sniper's miss the HVT aspect.

EDIT 2: The only place I would see that a paintball sniper is in a scenario that has a objective to take out important roles, like medics, LAW men, comm men, squad leaders, and commanders.

I personally don't care. Wer're all paintballers so hating on one person's style of play is somewhat uncalled for. If they consider themselves snipers, good for them. If speedball's your thing, I not gonna flame you and call you an agglet because you enjoy speedball. I think some of these opinions are better kept to one's self, rather than being spread across the internet to piss people off. I enjoy Tyger's videos, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion so if they think that they're a paintball sniper, let them be. It's just an opportunity for you to run up and shoot a moving pile of weeds(generalization).

I understand your point, but it's also a bit conflicting in itself.

OKso here we go...Let's not get all technical about the proper definition of a "sniper" and just agree that MOST people (newer people generally) would say that a sniper is someone who simply gets kills at long range, I would say that this exists in the form of first strike rounds. You have a very clear 200ft or up range advantage over people using standard .68 cal markers and so, not by definition, but by the general use of the term sniper, paintball snipers exist.

If you really care to get technical about the word then....wait a second, I just looked up the definition and even by proper definition snipers still exist in paintball
"A sniper is a highly trained marksman who shoots targets from concealed positions or distances exceeding the capabilities of regular personnel. Snipers typically have specialized training and distinct high-precision rifles." from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sniper

First strike rounds easily exceed the capabilities of regular .68 using personnel.

In conclusion, who gives a fuck?

wholy shit first after mike by accident.

Who really cares? That is what I don't like about tyger, he just rants on a moot point that nobody cares about. We all know that a 21in. barrel on a tippman and a scope don't work quite as well as we originally thought. But ranting on the definition of sniper? Come on man, paintball is a game and if your that upset about rec woodsball terminology you have some very serious issues with YOUR barrel length, and let me tell you, it certainly isn't too long....;)

I almost pissed myself! reading that then seeing tippmann 98 "super sniper barrel" omg. anyways, at MOST i would call someone using a t4 or a t9.1 with first strikes a Designated Marksmen, because well thats what they are. at scenarios i dedicate myself to being an objective runner and simply nothing else because i want my team to win while other people do as SlovPeter said take out high priority targets. plain and simple.

I wonder if companies like rap4 intentionally put out such terrible products, or if they are just really dumb.

I agree totally with you gilly suits and stealth dont make you a sniper trainting does and a 400ft shot would be fairly difficult for me with my 308 norma mag sniper rifle, it would take a long time just to sight a scope in, with a paintball it would be impossible
