Well since our government is so corrupt, cops will shoot you if you point anything resembling a gun at them, whether it be clear, bright orange, or black.
Please be joking... If someone in a non controlled enviornment pointed anything that looked like a gun at me im aiming center mass. Thats not corruption its common sense, you dont point anything that looks like a gun at someone who is doing their job which is to protect people from crazy people who may have a real gun...
Just saying police work is a thankless job...

I'd personally rather see progress on any of the "outdated" laws still on the books, than create new ones that ultimately don't change the fact that people will do stupid things.

But it's pretty ridiculous how you would shoot a marker, say, in the woods behind your house, then someone mistakes it for a real firearm. Like, when I need to test fire my markers, I have to be sure to cover everything up so that neighbors don't raise their eye brows worrying what I'm bringing in the woods, and my mother basically forces me to do it.
I don't really think markers like Egos, Geos, DMs, Axes, etc. should be considered lethal, or be worried that it looks like a real firearm, because when treated right, they shouldn't be considered lethal, and they have too much of a paintball gun look than a "Oh shit a real gun!" look.
Old thread, but guy above me bumped it, so.

If you point anything at a cop with a gun shape they will act as if it is a real gun, even if they know it isnt. Basically anything with a barrel and trigger is enough to get yourself in a lot of trouble. Its a crazy world, they dont take chances when someone is pointing something at them and they dont know what it is.

I acknowledge that, but I've seen reports of cops shooting kids with a squirt gun. They'd probably shoot you if you make the gun gesture with your index finger and thumb.

I'm going into law enforcement, and it's that type of thinking giving cops a image of negativity. unless you know 100% what the situation was, think before you speak. that "squirt gun" could have looked real, and if you understand stress reactions to the body and perceptual narrowing, you know very well that it is plausible to mistake it for a firearm. think of what could of happened if that were a real gun and that person didnt react that same way. that cop might have a family to go home to.
I dont agree at all with this bill. People that are responsible about paintball/airsoft/whatever it is that involves replica firearms will do it in a place that will not attract the wrong attention. and i bet 99.999% of all possible cases of kids playing with guns are harmless. if you walk into a bank with a paintball marker in your hand, regardless of if it looks like an M249 SAW or a dragon timmy and you had no intent on robbing said bank, you deserve to be embarrassed to hell and put on your ass for doing something epically stupid. (not to be shot, just to clarify, i meant arrested and given a boot in the ass and a fine for stupidity)
you could make a million rules/bills/legislations/banhammers/ect all you want, people will find a way to break them and do stupid shit.
P.S. to the poster who said all cops are corrupt because of the govenrment, you are an idiot. please dont call the cops next time something bad happens to you. if you believe that than you deserve no help at all.

I believe how the bill is writting it only applies to airsoft and "replica firearms", so milsim paintball markers could be affected. I imagine that it will be like the semi recent (2000) low capacity mag law. If you had a mag that carried more than 10 rounds purchased before 2000, you didnt have to get rid of it. Same with paintball markers, all the new ones would be brightly colored, you could keep ur old one
