Our d3 team is not sponsored by any big companies so we are free to use basically any gear we want and for 2013 I have already picked up a slightly used dm12 for 2013. I have a z2 from last season so I am wondering if I should look into the rotor for 2013 or stick with the z2. The z2 was amazing dont get me wrong but the rotor's build quality in terms of durability is awesome in my eyes. The only thing im not fond of is its tendencies to jam and me playing in southern California, I could see that being a problem.
Basically rotor with its superior build quality and looks/same maker with the dm but it jams more often or z2 with higher capacity and bigger feed port and much fewer jams.. Just wanting to see what others have to say.

NO! Don't get the soft arm, it has caused constant jams in the Rotor of every person that had one. You can lower the tension setting on the Rotor if you are concerned with jams. I have never had a jam with my Rotor - not once! - but I would say stick with the Z2 unless you get a trade deal on a Rotor you know works well, there isn't really much performance difference between them IMO.

My friend has both for tournament play. He uses the z2 and only pulls out the rotor if he has a ball break in his z2. His experience is that the z2 feeds more consistently even if the paint isn't the best. With tournament grade paint, the rotor should be fine, but if you use lower quality paint during practice, the z2 would probably be a slightly better option. A more expensive option if you prefer the rotor is the seed kit, but finding one now is probably going to be difficult.

Z2 is the shit! I believe it's one of the lightest loaders on the market if not THE lightest.
