I believe you can use any dovetail style Asa's. CP on/off is great and I think its under $40

I actually am also wanting to get an on/off ASA for my 2011 Proto Rail. Do they need anything special like the rail or a drop forward or anything?

I believe they have a dovetail rail built into the frame, so any standard dovetail asa will just slide right on.

It does not need a new rail unless you get a planet eclipse asa. Any ASA will work but I would advise your friend get a planet 2009 oops or a ccm asa

This is the CP on/off ASA that mounts to a dovetail. It's $32.95

Check with ANS but you may need to get a macroline fitting like this one for $4.99 if in fact you're converting your Rail from braided steel to macroline.

Personally I went with the Dye Airport for $60 cause I really like having the macroline come straight out the front.

Pre owned dove tail on/off's at http://armorypaintba...ps-%26-Fittings

CP mini on/off's $25

I recommend those if he wants to keep it under $40. Make sure it's dovetail and not direct mount.
