ohk so i was waiting for my game to start when a ref put 2 experienced players on 1 team with new players, then on the other team it was about 3 dads and the smaller kids. So the game had started and off the break you heard one experienced kid with a geo ramp at about 20 bps. So i decided to watch. Then the kid with the geo completely bunkered the little kids shooting full ramp. I just wanted to destroy this kid. Please everyone do not do this to new players especially that young. Please players be nice to the little ones

Sounds like Geo man needs a kick in the balls.

I mean really, a Geo?

No but really, he sounds like a total prick if everything you say is true, 20BPS ramp is stupid enough but bunkering 10 year olds is ridiculous.

When people say paintball is "dying" I think this is one of the things theyre refereing to. First of all if youre ramping at 20BPS,I cant even come up with a word for-just-ughh and bunkering 10 year olds really?? This is the exact reason why so many people are against electros (when the problem is mainly the assholes who misuse them.) Im really curious as to how the father responded *crosses fingers hoping he smashed the geo on the ground*

Out of curiosity, did the dad and the kids have rentals or what?

I understand what you mean, but that's like going to a local park and playing tackle football with kids a lot younger than you without any sense of consideration to the fact that theyre younger and smaller than you, and then actually trying as hard as you can while playing. I mean yes bunkering is part of the sport (I feelthat 20BPS cant really be considered part of it, because of restrictions) but I feel like you should know better than to do something like that, especially if this guy cared about the sport. (Because if you care about the sport of paintball , you want it to grow, to grow more people show up to fields, for this to happen you do the best you can to ensure that newcomers have a good time.)

Im pretty sure you heard 15bps and thought it was 20. 15 sounds faster than what it is lol.

If they were playing in a game and got shot, what's the problem?
Until you call yourself 'out' or the horn blows to end the game, you're going to get shot at. It sucks that it happened in that way, but that's paintball.

As far as ramping goes? If you're shooting semi, then go ahead. A bit of a dick move for sure, but that's what refs are for. Obviously the ref wasn't doing his job.

It may be part of the game in tournament play (and by may I mean it is). However, in Rec play there is no excuse fot this, not only are these kid's day ruined but this expirence will also never want them to play paintball again. That is why whenever I play with rentals I pull out my pump...

I got my 11 year brother into paintball, and the first time he play, the first thing I told him is not to stand back and stay there all day cause some douche will walk up and shoot him from 10 feet. He didn't listen, and guess what happened.
What the 20bps guy did was wrong, very wrong, (are you sure it was 20bps? that sounds ridiculous) but if the kids were in the back of the field (not I'm not sure if they were), then it was honestly a matter of time.
I mean surrender rules should always be followed, and a lot of people do follow them. But a shit load of times that you surrender people, they freak out and shoot you. When this happens I tell them, I'll get off but you have to too, but that is me.

oh my, dont even get me started on the surrender rule Posted Image
it never works!! newbies, experienced players doesn't matter, whenever you yell surrender (the guy is like 10 feet away) he just ends up shooting at you (hurts like hell) and then the ref yells "hey you, your hit, get off the field"
thats how it always happens, the surrender rule is like a last resort for me because of this

The surrender rule is hard to follow because most of the time you say surrender the kid turns around and shoots you so in all honesty, unless it's a kid, I shoot the person once anyways... But yeah it was likely 15 bps like Thunder said.

I had a day with about 3/4 new players, so I'd go for a surrender every time, even if it meant I'd get shot out. It's polite, especially for the new players. I had this one guy, who thought his woodsball "team" was hot shit and could win a speedball tournament (him and all of his friends rented; one might have owned an up'd BT). He sucked up to EVERY player at the staging area.

I surrendered him during a game, he shot me from 3 feet away, said "You're welcome," and kept playing. After the game, he said, "I never surrender. You're welcome." I was like WTF!?
