It's helpful for lazy people. I hate blinking lights, as I always get scared I screwed up and just like it when I know for a fact what mode I'm on.
Most useless item? Goggles...
Seriously though, probably a jersey if your not on a team.

Sure, rifled barrels dont make the balls fly straighter, but it still fires a paintball, so its not useless. Same can be said about most of what you guys are saying.
Id say the most useless item in paintball is stickers. They dont serve any purpose, and just end up gumming up your hopper, gun, tank or whatever else you end up ruining because of it. At the recieving end of hoppers i bought off the bst, its a real PITA trying to take that gunk off, and the hopper really suffers from the looks once the stickers start wearing off. A $150 rotor looks like a $50 peice of shit after a couple years of sticker wear.
I agree with barrel plugs, and magic boxes...and cookies threads

After having two tank regs, over the years, ruined from non-on/off ASAs, I love em. The first was a GA reg getting crossthreaded onto my first fun with a plain dovetail. The second was a ninja reg where the threads that the bonnet screws onto got stripped while trying to remove the tank from an old pump cocker. Also, playing with a leaking gun(keeps leaking out of an air passage screw), I turn off the air in between games. I love on/off ASAs.

Well I will admit I was a pretty die hard "I'm not going to buy an on/off guy" for a while, but one day I realized the importance.
We went out to the field and my friend had a ton ton shocker. When he went to unscrew his tank it became stuck, it was pressurized and he did not have an on/off.
We started using a strap wrench and the actual reg started unscrewing from the tank. That can be dangerous.
I never had any problems with my cockers cause I always put oil in the asa, but on guns that people mainly grease the bolt alone it can be a problem. Smart parts has a bad rep for asas as well.
I can say that because I own a smartsparts shocker nxt and the stock asa is garbage. However the whole macroline in the middle thing I don't see much point in changing.
Honestly I think a lot of things have become useless. A lot of gun upgrades now make them worse than stock. Ergonomics now are ridiculous when a lot of the problems could have been solved with grips alone.
I only gripe about that because it causes compatibility issues (try to find angel led, dm3, ego 05-06 parts lol).
