Hello, I just got a cocker pump and the barrel doesn't match the color of the marker. I was hoping just to spray paint the barrel gloss black or normal black whatever its called. Was just wondering how I'd go about doing this in regards to coats of paint will I need primer? or other materials.
So far All I know is fill the inside of the barrel with paper towel to prevent paint from getting inside the barrel

sand the shit out the barrel, then paint it what color you want then use a clear coat, but unless you have something covering the porting you're going to ruin your barrel.

I've read that it can work as long as you don't mess up the ports or get paint in the barrel, but I wanted opinions of people who have done this themselves

It'll rub off and look like shit. I've seen a barrel that was painted properly have this happen.

Hmm okay, I wonder how much an Ano job would cost just to get it to gloss black.

If you don't mind spending a bit more money you can just anno to make sure nothing happens to the barrel but at that point unless it's a dye barrel you should just a buy another one

I would use duracoat rather then normal spray paint

if you MUST, use newspapaer and roll it up until it is a very tight fit in the barrel and insert it from the side where the porting starts, and leave enough on the end so you can remove it but make sure you cover the porting. You would have to use metal spray paint made or being applie to metal and you would have to use a clear coat after it dries.
1.Wash the barrel and let it dry
2.Put newspaper in the barrel
3, Hang the barrel in the air out side somewhere off the ground with string
4. Apply spray paint let it dry and repeat accordingly
5. Apply clear coat let it dry and repeat accordingly

I can't promise you it will look good though.
It is not my prerogative to please you.

I wouldn't bother, it will most likely end up bad, and most companies won't anno just one piece.

Spray paint holds up surprisingly well if you do it right. I had my gun sprayed gold, prepped with sandpaper, primer, lots of THIN coats of paint, then clear coat. Gun has been resprayed since then, poorly... no primer, no nothing, falls to bits if you look at it wrong, but the gold underneath wont come off for shit. If you do a good job it will turn out well, just don't rush it.

Also its not like anno is super strong either, that nicks just as easy.

If it's dust black you want, you could just buy a new barrel. For the money and time you will spend painting it properly, a new barrel isn't a bad idea.

Predator is right, just get a $30 1 piece barrel or a $40 ANSGear 2 Piece.

Or just get the CP barrel instead and save $20.

I'm with the idea that you should just buy a barrel that matches. You can get them cheap enough that I don't think it's worth the time to try and paint it.
