I can see lost internals being a problem. Renters trying to take the barrel off for cleaning and they accidentally unscrewing the wrong part of the barrel and spill the guts of the marker everywhere lol.

Its defiantly different, I honestly don't see them replacing the 98customs or the bt rentals.

I can see field owners liking this a lot, but Its gotta be expensive to replace an entire rental fleet.

I would think they'd at least put a set screw in the collar or something like that, to keep people from unscrewing that on the field.

lmfao renters cleaning their barrels. I've NEVER seen renters even wipe the old hits off their guns, let alone take the barrel off for cleaning. I don't think we'll be replacing our 98's any time soon though.

And why should you? You already have a gun that is cheap, has cheap replacement parts, easy to maintain, and durable. Why shell out more money if you don't have to?

obviously never worked at a paintball field before.

cleaning 98s sucks so hard its ridiculous.
The ultimate truth in paintball is that the interaction between the gun and the player is far and away the largest factor in accuracy, consistency, and reliability.

No I havent but I also dont see how hard it is.

You take out 6 screws, clean it, screw it back together. And replacing 20+ guns doesnt seem like it would be worth it.

You're forgetting about the 4 or so trigger pins and the spring you can't lose. Tiny buggers can grow legs on you if you're not extremely diligent.

Is the body cast plastic? Kind of looks that way.

I concur. After about 1 or 2 tippmann's, you want to just throw them in the dishwasher.

takes about 10 minutes to take them apart and clean them. each one.

rental fleet of 20 guns = about 3 hours of cleaning

7 dollar/hour wage = 21 bucks

just to clean your whole rental fleet. which needs cleaning every day, and sometimes multiple times per day.

Now that is a matter of opinion...we only cleaned the breeches of the guns and the barrels. The hammer got lube, but they'd only get broken down when something broke. That's pretty much what the 98 was designed to do.

Pretty much. I hate taking apart 98's, but you don't need too very often.

Only thing I wish they would do is fix that stupid feedneck. I have broken 6 so far.
