So I played the Windy City classic in the fall and realized that I love scenerio but I really need a vest to get the most out of it and be able to carry everything. I often found that with my pod pack that my pods would open when I run ( because I have a really bad pod pack) so I won't one with straps. I have looked into a few vest but I really can't tell which would be the best for the money? Any sujestions will help.

The dye tactical vest is expensive but is of good quality along with their vest accessories.And the GXG vest is also pretty good.But lately I have just been putting a swab,a map,and my ID into a pod and sticking it into one of the elastic loops on a pod pack.And you can use a pod pack for rec play as well as a scenario,while a vest is pretty much limited to a scenario.So,I suggest you take the money you have or will have for a vest and invest it into a good(NXE)pod pack.

This is the vest that I used at the Windy City Classic. Well built, MOLLE on the front, hydration pouch and 6+2 pod configuration. $99.99 from Tippmann.

Or you could do what I did for a scenario at Paintball Explosion where it was hotter than Living Legends. I wore my empire 4+5 pod pack and wore a camelback, and threaded my radio into the webbing. A lot cooler than wearing a vest

I got the bt static vest. $30 for the base, about $15 for 2+3 pod packs

I used a Camelbak Delta set up with Dye molle pod holders at Legends last year on Saturday. Was heavier than just using a pod pack but was nice having the water. With the vest I ran my radio with mic on the webbing. When I ran just my pod pack on Sunday I just put the radio in my goggle strap. You can hear the radio and they can hear you if you just hit the button and talk at a normal level.

Should mention that I could run 17 pods with the vest set up .... 7 with the pack.

I second the Camelback delta, I used one for a lotta years up until I got a Full Clip vest last year. Full Clip is my first choice but if you're looking for something more economical the camelback is a great choice. You can fit a lot of stuff on it, and a 2l bladder fits great in it.

Best vest I've ever used. Modified Special Ops Forge vest. Heavy back and full molle front with Special Ops pouches.

And carries everything you need it to. If I weren't running mag-fed this year, I would just wear my Empire Pod Pack, and a military issue LBV that I would clip/MOLLE-weave the gear I needed on to it.

Sweet, Im thinking about picking one of those up before the event. Wal-Mart has 2L bladder for $10.

Mine can fits a 2L one nicely in there.

And what I'd recommend for legends is to leave the full bladder in the fridge overnight, and in a cooler up until you're heading out to the spawn point. Then slip it in the back and you get a nice little cool off

LL6 will be my first scenario, so I have been doing a lot of planning. Not sure about you, but I probably won't do a scenario more than once a year, twice at the most. I was thinking of just using a backpack and throwing water bottles, pods, squeegees, etc. in there. You could even throw a hydration bladder in there. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking that the action isn't going to be as crazy as x-ball and we won't be pouring pod after pod. I can see it being a pain if you're mag fed since they don't have the same capacity, but going into the backpack every 150 or so shots doesn't seem too bad. Is a vest going to help that much? I understand it's personal preference, I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do as well.

backpack wont distribute the weight as well and you could hurt yourself. and yes, at times you will be dumping pod after pod in

I have used a few types of vests over the years (flurry, spec ops, and now the v-tac echo vest. In the end, it is a matter of choice. I found out I don't like all the weight all day long and say the spec ops was so very shoulder heavy and just never felt right. The echo is more of a speedball rig with better suspenders and more my style. What again, everyone has their own and there is no right or wrong. I would suggest even playing seldom to consider a vest compared to a backpack. Water bottles don't work on the field like a camel back does plus living legends with 1500 to 2000 players on the field means alot of stand up fights compared to some scenarios.

And I can guarantee that there will be moments as intense, if not more intense, than xball. But then again, me and my guys love putting ourselves in situations where we are outnumbered 5-1 at a minimum

Thanks for the feedback. My new plan is to do hydration bladder of some sort + pod pack. The Camelbak Rogue looks like it has plenty of storage. Can/should everyone carry radios, or only XOs? Trying to decide if I really need a vest with MOLLE. I know it has other uses, but I have pockets for most things.

etekgirl, do you know what the max size hydration bladder your bt static will hold?
