Ok, so I'm relatively new to paintball and I would like to get more into xball. I've decided I should get a new gun, but I can't decide between the axe and the etek 4 lt. I want something that requires little to no regular matinence. I would also prefer the gun that is more user friendly. BPS isn't important at all. I just want something that is durable, reliable, easy to maintain, and shoots well out of the box.

They both have this.

To be honest they both preform pretty much the same but with a Boss Bolt an Axe can be more efficient and deadly quiet and would get a slight edge on an Etek.
In the end it just matters what you want out of your marker and what feels comfortable for you.

My vote goes to the Axe because I like shooting them better than Eteks.

I'm partial to the etek myself. I dislike how the axe looks and feels. The noise issue isn't really an issue for me since I'm used to having louder guns. Also, the etek 4 is super simple to take care of and dis assemble. It just is personal preference.

They both feel great to me in the hands. I don't like the etek because the sound that it makes is a crack. It also kicks and these two things distract me from playing and walking the trigger. I like the axe better because it is more efficient, shoots better, feels better in the hands(to me), and has a better trigger.

I know the trigger on the Axe is better, but If I removed the magnet from the Etek, would the trigger be closer to the Axes?

Axe vs Etek trigger is preference, in my opinion the Etek trigger is better, slimmer profile does it for me. Taking the magnet out just makes it crappy and bouncy, since your just relying on the microswitch to return it.

Ok, as of now I'm leaning toward the Etek. However I don't have the funds for it yet, so there is still quite a bit of time for me to change my mind.

Then change your mind and go for the cheaper and better Axe.

Is the Axe a poppit? I've heard it's kinda a hybrid.

Does the Axe have more O-rings than the Etek.

The axe is a inline pressure controlled poppet. It could be mistaken for a spool if tuned properly and with a boss bolt. I am not sure about the orings since i don't own an etek, but i think that the etek maintenance is easier.
