So, way back in September, my friends and I played a 3-man tournament. Got subway afterward. My friend ended up not liking his sandwich/deciding he wasn't hungry so he gave half to me. I already ate mine, so I throw it in my bag for later. I come home, it's a Sunday night, time to do all the homework that I've put off. Throw my gearbag in my room. I don't really open it for a while, and I only take out my gun to play with the trigger when i'm bored.

3 months later, I wanna shoot in my backyard for shits n gigs, I reach for my tank and what's this? A sandwich that had been left to grow mold for 3 consecutive months? Delightful. Most of my gear is fine now, all it needed was a good washing (harness, jersey, pants, etc.) but my tank was touching the mold. Luckily I had a tank cover, which I'm still struggling to clean the mold off of, but I need some advice on how to get my tank to not smell like mold. I tried washing it with warm water and soap, and I'm a bit hesitant to try anything else because it is carbon fiber, after all. Like, bleach, I'm not too sure about.

If any of you have had similar experiences, and know how to get that mold smell off your paintball stuff, please help!

Thanks

Baking soda and bleach should work. But I would try to take the reg off and put just your tank in the freezer for 24 hours. It should kill the mold and get rid of the smell.

Now I'm curious as to what it was they said...

Unfortunately pics don't smell like anything, if I took pictures at this point it'd just be of my normal looking gear, cause I cleaned all the mold off. It's just the smell that I'm having trouble with

And thanks, Cole N., I'll try that.

I dont know about how to fix the smell, but you shouldn't be leaving your gear uncleaned for that long, it takes all of 5 minutes to toss your stuff in the wash.

As for the tank, its not really a fabric so the smell should go away with time. Try getting a cloth tank cover and spraying the cover with fabreeze or something to mask the smell for now.

mostly suggested potentially harmful ways to get the smell out, which in retrospect was pretty dumb.

i dont want to see any more posts about harmful home chemical mixes...

OP, use a commercial cleaning solution to get rid of the mold.. or, wash it in lemon juice... the acid wont harm the tank, but it will kill the mold... simple green is your best bet though....

if i see any more posts in here about what was deleted, i will ban you, no questions asked

this will sound really weird but a get a big plastic tub with a lid put the tank in and a small bowl with a washcloth in it add half a bottle of yellow Listerine to the washcloth in the bowl put the lid on and leave it for 24 hours. This is of course after washing the tank really well im not sure on why but it kills any of the odors i have to deal with (morgue tech here)

I forgot a piece of sausage from McDonalds in my bag for 7 months. Only thing that changed was it got hard as a brick... Which is sad.
