Heya;

I play on a field where we split time between Woodsball and Speedball. what shoes are you folks wearing for these occasions. I tended to where soft cleat shoes that you would typically use for softball or grass surfaced soccer. This works fine for speedball, but I tend to twinst / sprain ankles using them in the woods. You folks have any thoughts on brands or places to buy good shoes? I usually look at Dicks or ANSGear. I am just not sold on anything yet...

Have you tried just a pair of trail running, or cross training shoes? Better arch support, and traction while still providing speed and maneuverability...

I like hiking shoes the have good traction an ankle support. But the are a little heavy so I would say football I like the traction and ankle support for speedball.

I've been wearing cleats made for indoor soccer/turf with small rubber spikes. I almost only play speedball though, they may not be the best for woods.

I wear Adidas GSG 9.2 Combat Boots. I am and will forever be a huge proponent of these boots. They have the deep grip I need for climbing hills and getting a grip into turf to start a run, but have flexibility support and comfort of a cross trainer or a high top basketball sneaker. These boots are literally my favorite footwear, and I wish I could wear a pair to work every day. I plan to buy a brand new pair before LL6.

I use cleats for everthing, Exalt Cleats to be exact. I love the things to death, and wouldn't trade them for any other cleat/shoe.

I wear my vibrams because I'm already used to running in them. I'm probably going to get soft cleats for airball but yeah, my vibrams are great.. Unless there's mud, then life sucks.

I got a pair of these years and years ago...

They still look great (the hard rubber toe guard has been a lifesaver, keeping them looking new even when crawling around.) And I can walk through the creeks on my property and my feet stay warm and dry. Single best paintball purchase I ever made. Never twisted an ankle, or had to worry about my feet when playing.

The Army doesn't even use the standard Army boots, and they're free, why have you spent money on them?

If I'm on a field where there's not a big tripping hazard and what-not, I'll wear Converse.
If there are hazards, I'll wear my old work-boots that are deemed "unservicable" for the flightline (Exposed metal in the steel toe).
I had a pair of cleats that I used for a couple games in the past, but I ended up losing them during a move and honestly haven't missed them enough to buy a new pair. What I use now is good enough for me.

I'm a big fan of of cleats but if I know i'm going to play a lot of woods ball I will wear ankle braces. They fit fine in my cleats. I would also recommend wearing cleats that would cover your ankles and make sure they have a tight fit.

I play nothing but woodsball, and I usually wear a pair of trail running shoes or my reebok high-tops.
