axes start at $100 more and go up to over $250 new. I am looking at the proton and am pretty much sold.

Used Axe for 325, 350, it's a no brainer IMO, unless you aren't comfortable buying used.

I bought a Valken Proton to get back into the sport. I don't like how the axe looks, but I do like how the proton looks (I know it's weird). I can let you know how it does. Should be here tomorrow, then playing next week.

The proton in my experience was an absolute piece of trash marker.

If you don't like how your marker looks, then most likely won't like how you play. So that means you wouldn't be happy, and paintball is all about playing for fun and winning.

Crich: Why do you think it's "an absolute piece of trash marker"?
