Do you use SSDs or HDDs? Or a mix? Or hybrids?

I use an 128 GB SSD in my laptop, and two 160GB HDDs in my old desktop (you know, the ones that have ribbon cables, no joke).

The correct term is IDE Cables. But I use those in my server, 2 1TB SATA drives in my desktop, and 250GB 2.5 SATA drives in my Laptops. I have yet to warrant getting a SSD with their prices still being so high.

HDDs all the way! I only plan on using SSDs if I run into a huge lot of cash or just to boot from.

Anyway, 1tb WD Caviar Blue for everything and a 250gb WD Caviar Blue JUST for fraps lol.

Lol. I never knew what the proper term is

I'm kinda a novice-to-moderate computer guy for my hardware learning. But I'm getting thier!

My desktop has a Seagate 250GB 7200RPM that came out of an older family PC, which is used for booting Windows 7 and Linux Mint 12. It also has a 640GB 7200RPM from WD which is mostly used for storage, but it also has a Hackintosh partition on it. Both are SATA. My laptop has a Seagate Momentus XT 500GB (7200RPM + 4GB NAND cache), with OS X (legitimate, not hackintosh) and Mint 10 partitions, and XP running inside a VM in OS X.

So I guess the answer is HDDs and hybrids. I'm considering getting a new laptop in the summer though, which I would keep with one SSD in it (~120-160GB should be plenty for it). It would just be a working laptop, eg programming mostly, and my current laptop would then be used for media stuff, like photo/video/music storage and whatnot.

HDD's only for me. I don't think they have ironed out a lot of potential issues with the SSD/Hybrid market yet, so I'm waiting to jump in on that.

I may buy a smaller (128GB?) SDD for my netbook to test out. Depending on how it holds up, I might upgrade to a larger one when I buy my next laptop.

I have a 128 Gb SSD, in my laptop and have came to a conclusion that it's just as reliable as my HDDs. Plus it's faster, and lighter, quieter, and less hot.

I only use HDDs (only have a desktop). No need for a SSD.

You just described the thing that you shouldn't have had to come to a conclusion about.... that's why SSDs were designed in the first place.

Lol, I know, but some people don't believe it's true. Literally, my friend didn't believe that an SSD is faster than his hitachi Deskstar HDD or something.
He's very ignorant, so I thought i would post it for any random ignorant person who reads it (not that anyone that's active in this thread is ignorant ;) )

Anyways, I'm in the market for some new RAM. I want an 2 x 4GB Red RAM that looks nice, any speed is good, max $65. Any suggestions? I was looking at the kingston RAM and some Patriot, but I want your opinions

There ya go. I think Gskill is the only RAM Manufacturer that makes Red RAM.
EDIT: And here's the same RAM in 1600

No, Kingston, Patriot, and corsair all make red RAM too... I just don't know which company get it from, the RAM is basicly the same, right?
Is it better to have RAM that's like 9-9-9-9-24 or 10-10-10-10-24? Or 8-9-8-9-24?

im thinking about being cheap, but want to check, this psu will be enough for an ASUS P8Z86, a Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850 and a i3 2120?
im also wondering how future proof it will be (like if i wanted to power 8-10 120 fans, and a radiator pump?) or if i upgrade to a 2500k and over clock with the water cooling stuff?

That website is in Canada, so it might take a while to get to the states. But yes, it should be more than enough.

I still don't believe people live in Canada. I'm convinced it's just a bunch of New Yorkers that are looking at a map wrong. :P
