The Story
The planet Earth has been peaceful for years. In the last great battle, the empires of the United Asia joined forces with the Ekron Corporation to defeat the United North Americas. By taking control of the legendary Keys of the Internet, all communications, information, and even the very memories of the UNA people were lost to them. Without the Internet and all that it brings, Ekron quickly conquered what was left of the UNA armies. The time of Ekron was now.
In this era, there is no more war. Ekron has been able to keep the peace by controlling what can be seen, heard, and read. Since the beginning of time, the victors have written the histories. Peace was granted by sacrificing people individualism and old ways of thinking. The people of the UNA were a defeated people and now must become a part of the Ekron empire. To be a part of the Ekron Empire meant that people had to shed all parts of their previous life. All books, media, traditions, and even the UNA language were replaced with Ekron teachings. Those who refused were place into re-education camp; some did not survive the re-education process.
The process of re-education and adherence to Ekron law was in the hands of the Thought Police. These ruthless people were charged with keeping the citizens of Ekron in line with the Corporate ideas of Ekron. With no entity on Earth able to challenge Ekron, it simply continued on its path of ecological violation by continuing its unrestricted harvesting and refinement of fossil fuels. With no alternative, people were being forcing into a world that only knew fossil fuels. This also meant soon there will be no fuel left. The known reserves of fossil fuels would be soon depleted and the world will fall into chaos.
Once Ekron leaders began to realize the quickly diminishing levels of fuel sources, they began searching the Internet for answers. Being the masters of all knowledge, Ekron commanded the Thought Police to start searching through the old archives; including the secret and forbidden UNA archives files that were kept from the old defeated empire.
It has been generations since anyone in the Ekron empire was allowed read or speak the UNA language. The Thought Police was forced to recruited some of the old re-educated UNA scientist to help decipher the old archives.
Ekron thought all would be lost, until the research team consisting of loyal Ekron and the re-educated UNA scientist discover two promising entries in ancient UNA archive. They were of two highly classified but unidentified locations. Desperate to keep the Ekron empire from falling into chaos, the Thought Police immediately sent out exploration teams consisting of the Ekron and re-educated UNA scientist, and a small security detachment of Thought Police to the first of the two locations.
The first location was in an area known as the Southern Wilds; and the discovery exceeded their wildest dreams. It was an untapped source of fossil fuels that UNA had kept hidden away. It was never tapped because of UNA's transition to solar powered machinery. The Ekron scientist estimate that it could sustain the Ekron empire for at least another 50 years. The expedition notified Ekron leadership and harvestor teams were dispatched. The exploration team had an overwhelming feeling of confidence, and hoping for an equally wonderful discovery at the second site, the team rushed to the second location.
The team arrived on the largest of the Bikini Islands, and quickly established a base camp to start the search. However, the team exhausted their limited fuel supplies, and in the rush to the new location, neglected to resupply. This was only an inconvenience, and they communicated with Ekron suppliers, and was informed that they would be taken care of as soon as the new fuel deposit was secured.
The expedition leaders decided to reward the UNA scientist by allowing them to take a relax and enjoy the time gifted to them as they waited for supplies. After all, it is a deserted island, what could a bunch of old UNA scientist do?
As it turns out, quite a bit. The Bikini Islands was one of the control facilities for the "Fire in the Sky": SkyFire.
SkyFire was the UNA orbital defense laser satellite system that plagued Ekron during the old wars. The solar laser cannons can be fired from orbit, and would have the same effect as a nuclear weapon, destroying a city without the harmful radiation aftermath. The system was relatively intact, but offline. The old UNA scientist quickly realized what they had found and quickly plotted to keep it out of Ekron hands. The scientist gathered what information they could and had it saved to an encrypted storage device. The device was placed on an old solar power unmanned flying drone. Some of the old scientist were still in contact with the UNA underground. This information could fuel UNA's return to power. Shortly after the drone's departure, the UNA scientist cause the solar reactors powering the old facility to overload and destroyed the whole island in a nuclear cloud. There was no way UNA would allow Ekron access to SkyFire.
The single most powerful force in the universe has always been the indomitable will of the human spirit. Though unable to be seen in public, groups of UNA people gathered in the shadows and met in dark secret places to remember their histories, their traditions, and their old way of life. The UNA underground, which became known as the Shadow Force, planned to one day stand up and bring back the United North American empire. This is where the solar flying craft from Bikini Island was brought. The Shadow Force leadership quickly discovered the value of the craft's contents. If they could find the necessary components, UNA could reactivate SkyFire and blast key Ekron installation. A few incinerated fuel depots and with Ekron's limited fuel supplies, would cripple Ekron forces. UNA could take back the world in hours.
Now the race is on. Can UNA find the components for the SkyFire system before Ekron can secure the fuel resources of the Southern Wilds?
