Provided you have that plastic case that goes over it, it won't mess anything up. My buddy uses his all the time!

Go pros are designed to take a beating. I have dropped my go pro from the roof of my house when I was trying to film the firework and it was just fine.

considering my friend gets paid to blow these cameras up by the government, they take a hell of a beating. he has also shot a paintball directly into the camera with zero side effects,

I still don't understand why everyone is so enamored with the GoPro though.

The ContourROAM HD is more compact, cheaper, & just as durable without a case.

Is that just conjecture or is there a faster frame rate on the GoPro?

Your experience might also have to do with the way the video is written onto the SD card for the Contour. If you had anything lower than a Class IV card, it probably had troubles writing data quickly enough to the card, resulting in a lower quality final production.

This is why I shelled out the cash for a class 10.

The only thing I would recommend is buying a lens replacement kit, it will come in handy. I was at the local pool (not filming hot girls) and my lens got scratched from it rubbing on the bottom of the pool. If a paintball hits the lens directly, it might scratch the lens.

It's not heavy at all. You can't even tell anything is on your head and doesnt effect performance or profile at all.
