So today whilst driving to the field, a burst disc blew out on my pure energy tank. Other than scaring the living crap out of me, I realized how little I know about burst discs. What is their purpose? Also, how would I put a new one on, and do I have to worry about anything else possibly being broken on my tank?

When a burst disk blows it's nothing to really worry about. First remove the old one, clean out the entire area where it was with a damp q-tip (especially the threads and such) then open up the reg and clean it up. Put a bit of dow 33 lube on the piston oring (dont worry it won't blow up. Silicone based lube is safe inside the reg) and put it all back together with a fresh burst disk. They aren't more than $5 at a paintball shop. Be sure to use blue loctite or Teflon tape if you dont have loctite on the threads to seal that baby up so it won't leak.
