Try looking towards who you are talking to.

if it's indoors the echo is a pain in the ass!
Tell your Team to make up VERY specific things that when said do not sound like any other word in the Dictionary, but are quick to say.

I play indoors and its almost impossible to hear anyone unless you scream at the top of your lungs. I end up losing my voice sometimes. try a new mask maybe I4's or Eflex.

It may also be a focus thing. Tunnel vision can apply to hearing as well, especially for aggressive front players; the guy I'm mid/backing for has a similar thing where he never talks.
If you're a front, try playing a few rounds in the back and see if the game doesn't open up to you a little bit.

Who am I, what am I, and what do I do? I'm a Christian, I'm a Gator, and I'm a drummer.

A drill I used to like to do, was if a certain teammate wouldn't communicate, I'd take his gun away for a game
Now he has no choice to communicate, he can't do anything else

Yeah but it was due to hearing loss from working around very loud equipment. And yes I was wearing ear plugs. It's a gradual thing that you don't realize is happening til the effect is really pronounced. You might want to pop into the doctors office for a hearing check.
