There are 8 fields right now in Charlotte. There are 10 if you count Command Decisions and Wolf Creek which are about 1.5 hours away. You can probably get to PBC Greenville or Greensboro in slightly over that time, and TriggerTyme and Ball Busters in SC within about 1.75 hours.

Of the 8 Charlotte fields, three have put major investment into upgrading their fields in the past few months (PBC, Mighty Sports, and Boss). For that matter, Mighty Sports was just built late last year as a brand new field. Paintball Paradyes has only been open maybe 2-3 years. That's a lot of choices to have for our Metro population. Honestly, I would like to see about 2 of the fields die off - I'm hopeful people will pay for good product and the "cheap and sleazy" fields won't last. As far as good fields that I'm concerned about, I like Paintball Kingdom and Paintball Paradyes but I'm not sure where they're headed. Boss and PBC will keep on trucking as the premiere Charlotte Fields while Command Decisions will still be the go-to scenario field this year again.

If your field of choice doesn't seem to be doing well, go try another one. There are way too many good options out there to try.

Is TriggerTyme still open? I play at BallBusters but I heard they closed down?

I assume they are. Their website has been updated in the past year and their phone number has Triggertyme on the answering machine. I haven't been to the field in...oh, about 16 years, though. Last time I went they had pumps and CO2.

Seems to be on an overall decline in MN.

We still have a few fields, so there's still a lot of paintball. But I remember 5-6 years back we had perhaps twice the number of fields that we do now. Obviously, the market had to have shrunk to allow for that much collapse.

I'm guessing it's a mix of business practice depending on the field and the economy.

Every time i goto my local field i feel as if its getting less and less attention.. less and less crowds.. when it comes to regular community games..
We do get fairly decent attendances when there are big events but thats one once maybe twice a month.
Im noticing a transition of ballers especially scenario woods ballers getting into "airsoft" I've looked into it and its meh.. i dont see they hype behind it.

Is paintball dying in your area?

Paintball is not dying in Charlotte... where do you play at? We do tournaments in Charlotte...

Paintball Kingdom is a struggle - some weeks I've been out there and there are 30-50 players, sometimes I've been out and maybe only 20 for the whole day. I've been there maybe 4 times in the past 8 months. If someone told me that field was dying I could buy into it. The website isn't what it used to be and Smoke hasn't been active at all on the forums in years. Great field, though - it's really marketed itself toward first time players I think. Well, first time players and the Sabers.

In its general vicinity are Glory Road Paintball (Monroe), Mighty Sports Center (Stallings), and Boss Paintball (Locust).

PBC is probably not the closest to you unless you live in Waxhaw or across the border in SC. It's about a 50 minute drive from me and I live on the far east side of town. You should see how far you are away from Boss. Boss will seem like a paintball renaissance for you.

paintball IS dead here. if i wanna play i have to drive 2 1/2 hours to utah to play. i am honestly thinking about trying to get a business license so i can organize something here on the weekends.
There are 2 kinds of people in this world. Those who think they can and those who think they can't. both of them are right.

Just open an outlaw and post it as a Donation only field with a recommended donation for stuff. Thats what my local field did for the first 2 years of business while they waited to be approved by the town

Im never moving out of Chicago. These type of threads make me feel so lucky because i have so many really good fields in my area (CPX, PBX, FOX, Badlandz) and the paintball community is large.
