please rate this out of 10 and give some constructive criticism to help me to do better next time

alright kitty. is it because its too big? because i was planning on (if i choose to use it) scaling it down, although that might not change file size too, too much.

Size is fine, file size however is far too big.

It looks great though. Maybe do a tutorial on blending before your next sig.

Good stuff!

heres another one i made. btw i spend half of the time rendering the gun because i just find it very time consuming. normally i just erase the easy excess with a big square brush and see if the magic wand can render it. if not i fix up the details until it works. please rate out of 10 and give some constructive criticism so i can improve next time

*sigh* it's 58.1 k and needs to be under 30k. should i just lower the resolution? its currently at 72 pixels per square inch. is there any other easy way to make the file size smaller?

lower the quality in photoshop, save it as 8 instead of 10 or 12

ah! ah! ah! tubeman you got yourself a business of making sigs which ARE Kitty compliant. Nice one. Maybe you should charge $1 or $2 for your troubles per sig, PAYPAL of course, would only be fair.

Use the save for web feature in photoshop (ctr + Shift + alt + s). You can see how big it is if you pull up the 2-up view and look below the picture on the right. You can use the slider in the options to the top right to adjust the quality out of 100%. This allows you to lok at the original on the left and the web output file on the right so you can fine tune it till it's the smallest file size, but not too pixelized.

EDIT: Oh and 72 pixels per inch is only for printing on paper (dpi). Just means a file 400 pixels wide will take (400/x dpi) inches when printed on paper. So if you set it to 72 pixels per inch a 400 pixel wide picture would be 400/72 = or about ~5.5 inches. So unless you are printing it, it doesn't matter what you set that too.

well, if you provide a service to people you should expect a financial pay-off if it is a quality work and in-time.

People who do not know or don't have time to would pay 1$ for you to create an avatar or a sig. 1$ is ok. i guess if you are good at it and they provide you with a pic and an idea you can give them 5 samples to choose from in 5 minutes.

Be honest though, if you charge them don't dish dirt. Ask them to pay upfront, and deliver, you'll get some $$, maybenot millions, but you always need to start...

Good luck
Ralphy

well paintballpdh19 pm'd me and the updates and all are here Posted Image
in the future i may choose not to spend my extra time making sigs for random people for free so with that in mind i may choose to refer you to someone else especially if the image requested in the sig is difficult to render and etc. i dont have interest with using paypal so loosely over the internet so really i would just be running around doing favors for people and you should probably understand.
