My friends enjoy paintballing with me, and have looked into buying their own gear. The Tippman is too expensive for what it's worth, and they can get much better gear. Here is a setup i made for them, and is a great price range. Any suggestions?

Why not rent and buy their various upgrades as they save instead of trying to buy everything at once with a very low budget.

Spend all of the money on a tank and a mask. You can't shoot what you can't see.

I would rather have my own mask then play with a garbage set up. I am sorry if I am sounding harsh but once he gets the money to upgrade to a new mask , tank, and marker, he will be out over $150. That money could have been spend on good gear rather than shitty gear.

Also Tipmmanns suck don't let your friends buy one.

Buy a thermal pane mask or at least a VForce. Anything else is a waste of money.

My limit would stop at the VForce Grill, and the profilers if you can find one. For a really cheap one, at least find one with thermal lenses. Empire Avatar would be ok, but I'd hesitate on that one. Just go find the Grill or anything higher.
Then get a nice HPA tank and a nice loader. Afterwards look into a nice gun, such as the GoG eNMEy.

Your not going to be able to buy a nice high grade full setup with just $200. gun your looking at $100, mask is around $70-100, tank is around $100, and a hopper would be around $60-70. Your friend would either need to get more money or just live without one of those things. Or he can spend less now and more later instead of spending more now and less later. I wouldn't recommend doing that but I did that and it took me longer to build up and more expensive but I don't really regret it but then again your friend is not me. I started with a azodin kaos some $30 JT thermal mask, a steelie 47/3000 and a gravity fed,and a budget NxE podpack and pods but next I got a hopper, then I got a mask, then I sold my other mask and bought a different one, after that bought a jersey and pants and then I actually bought a new gun and in the end I finally purchased a rotor and I a tank but to me it was ok since my field only filled up to 3000 psi anyway.I don't regret the way I bought my stuff because I bought my stuff in the way I felt I needed to. Mike's way is a overall really good way to start off buying gear but, I just bought stuff in the order I though I needed it and I was really happy overall and again I say it but, your friend probably don't have the same circumstances I was in as a begginer so it will probably diferent for him.

Yeah I wouldn't even get a gun, Get like the Proto FS switch mask or something around $50 and a Pinokio

I'd rather play with a 98 custom with a 68/4500 and a Virtue Spire or Pinokio than a new Ego/Geo/DM with a shake and shoot.

A GOG enmy with a Fasta is $200 right there and you wouldn't have a mask or tank.

Well what type of paintball are you guys playing, speedball or woodsball? If you're playing speedball and need a good, yet cheap marker, try out the Azodin Kaos or Blitz. If your friends are still beginners, you want to get a cheaper gun (Kaos) so you can fit your budget. If your friends are pretty good, try a Blitz and let them rent out the other stuff. Make sure you get lower grade paint with the Kaos though.
If you guys are playing woodsball, do try a used tippman, as they will probably be in good condition. You'll be able to get your other gear as well. Since woodsball is a slower game, a Kaos wouldn't be a bad idea if you upgrade the barrel.

Things to look out for on the Kaos:
-non electronic
-bolt strikes hard
-no regulator (high pressure marker)
These all mean that you have to shoot slowly, otherwise your paint will constantly break.

I'd rather have the regulated Blitz or eNMy regardless of speed or woods ball, consisnancy might even be more of an issue with the longer ranges of woods ball

And I would get the "other stuff" (Mask and loader mainly) and rent out the gun than the other way around
