As for a jersey... they are always nice to have because you don't have to worry about ruining your clothes. You did say that you wear a short sleeve shirt, make sure to bring a long sleeve because some fields won't allow bear skin to be showing during play. Also, make sure you are wearing a shirt that is not the color of the paint fill (yellow, orange, pink, ect).

I've been a Boy Scout for a long time, and if we have learned anything, it's that cotton kills. It gets wet and then a whole bunch of bad shit happens, like chaffing for example.

Pants > elbow pads = jersey > knee pads > cleats > bounce shirt
Pants first because if you go out in jeans every time before then you'll ruin a lot of jeans, elbow pads because they're a godsend for superman sliding, but if you don't have a jersey (or any kind of designated long sleeve) they'll get ripped apart quick. Knee pads are nice, but if you get good pants aren't 100% required unless you play on straight dirt/crap turf, my field has some of, if the not the softest turf I've ever felt, so unless its cold out I don't bother. Cleats are fantastic, and I only wear my bounce shirt when it's cold, just to keep myself warm between games/matches.

Get some good padded pants, undershirt, elbow pads, and knee pads. Getting a cup would be good if your playing speedball. Also, try and take a look at Mike's upgrade vid. On YouTube (uploaded April 2008)
