I have a good idea! Why won't bigger paintball companies create comercials on tv to spread the word about paintball. Shed some light on the sport. Create a good impression for the sport.

Paintball commercials pop up from time to time. But the whole reason for a commercial to advertise a product, like Tippmann, or a service, such as a local paintball field. Why aren't they still on TV? Because they don't work. Sales don't go up for the cost of making the commercial, and paying for the network (Local, regional, or national) to air them. I have seen old paintball field commercials on ESPN (From back east, and this was back in the mid 90's when a paintball tournament was first on TV back in the day) and more recent manufacturer commercials on more recently (Like from Tippmann and Smart Parts from the Smart Parts World Cup mini X-Ball tournament that the Naughty Dogs won). And they just don't pull in the numbers in sales that are needed to justify their cost to be cost effective. It's more cost effective for a field and store to cultivate a stronger online presence, like on Facebook, here, MCB, PbN, and such, as well as have video's made during games that show off the field placed on YouTube, and have repeat customers talk about how cool the field is, how they had a good time, how this kind of big game or scrimmage is coming up and getting you guys to do their advertising for them.

Funny and related, look at the biggest thing that the PSP had going for them back when the split happened between them and the NPPL. They adopted X-Ball for their format, and with their Pro league, part of why the team owners had to buy in to be Pros was that they were going to fund Dick Clark and his company to come out and film the Pro X-Ball stuff. The NXL. And what happened? Well, Dick and his guys came out and filmed at World Cup, missing the four other tournaments of the year, and even then, only like three games. Those turned into one or two games being actually televised on ESPN, and that was that. A while later, maybe half a year later or so, Dick Clack backed out of filming paintball stuff. The Smart Parts World Cup thing was because Jerry Braun and the Gardners asked the other team owners of the NXL if they could try to take off where Dick and his guys left things. The rest of the owners said sure, and they got the ball rolling. They did alot of work, alot of it, just to have only Smart Parts sponsored teams, NY Extreme, and Sacramento XSV show up. Around half of the league played the tournament. Not the whole league.

So money dictates what happens, when it happens, and if it happens at all.

The only commercial I've ever seen showed 4 guys jumping a log and then going full auto. This would almost never happen. Then you have to realize that even if they do commercials most people will still only go once or twice with rentals then quit because some a-hole lit them up. In order for paintball to have a better impression people have to step up and make it better.
