I've never played with a pump before. But I'm interested. I want a low end pump. Not walmartish. But cheap. Any ideas?

Trilogy sport with a pump kit? That'd be my guess.

I would say a used Cocker pump. You can usually get them for around 100 depending on the accessories, type of pump kit, trigger frame...that sort of stuff.

Trilogy with pump kit. Skip the Kaos Pump, it sucks ass compared to the trilogy.

If you're not willing to spend $100 pump then dont bother. Go with a Sniper, more standard than trilogies and typically come with regs

Used autococker with an inexpensive pump kit. You should be able to get your hands on a fair gun for under $125

Its his first pump, he'd want something simple, and trilogies are already pretty good with the inline reg or whatever is on them.

It's just a gas through with makes it horribly inconsistent. Mine was +/- 25 over a chrono.

If you want to spend a bit more. A used Azodin KP will treat you well. And the CS will help you if something breaks in the gun.

Just throwing that out there.

trilogy are nice, but if you would value a half decent feedneck, and not having a 1.5 finger trigger over a better pump-stroke then you might prefer the kp to the trilogy.

It's the trilogy competition not the trilogy sport so it does have a reg I believe.

Weird, my piece of shit was getting around +/-7 on the chrono. But I do use an underbored barrel so that can make a difference.

Custom blend isn't that good IMO, but it does bore out at like .683

Personally i prefer nelson based pumps especially when talking budget pumps. As nelsons even at the sub $150 mark NEW offer you the Auto Trigger. Though Auto Trigger is far from NEEDED it is a nice thing to have when converting from a semi style play. But that being said with a nelson based pump you need to return the pump handle to the forward position and the pump stroke in general is much harsher than MOST ANY sniper based pump. Its all what one prefers. If ya ok with used personally my preference falls to a Open class CCI Phantom. If new is what ya after i personally own both a Empire Traccer and Tippmann SL-68II. Both markers work great for me both chrony in + or - 5 to 10 FPS consistancy when shot with my ninja HPA tanks (either 13ci/3000 or 35ci/3000). Personally i use the tippmann more as it feels a bit more robust is easier to clean and velocity adjustment is far easier. That said the Tippmann has absolutely NO upgrades and roll outs can be an Issue (nothing the good old FREE electrical tape Detent cant fix).Honestly though with the exception of those cheap plastic pumps from big box stores. Most pumps can be made to work quite well. Just need to find the one/style you like most.Again myself i used to have a Stock class phantom and LOVED that gun. But for the price i can find no fault shooting the lower end nelson based pumps and will never Let go of my SL-68II.
AGD 68 Automag, AGD RT ULE, DP E1, Empire Trracer, Sheridan PGP 2k, Tippmann A5, Tippmann Pro/Carbine, Tippmann SL-68II
