ok i looked it up and i cant say much, im not sure about agathis wood, but i can say the maple neck and rosewood fret board is good, and im not sure about the pick ups....? if your serious about this then i think you shouldnt jump right into this one maybe look at some other basses and definably look up reviews on this bass.
Ibanez makes great basses both my basses are ibanez.
Fender also makes outstanding basses
i would suggest that you find a nice used Fender P bass (and yes that random "P" is part of the name)
fender makes what they call american deluxe P and Jazz basses but those are over $1000...
for just starting out a nice used fender P bass with some new strings of normal gauge would take you a long way. heck buying new is fine too
