Bolt/Barrel size mismatch - can it be an issue. My 'Mag is breaking paint like a blender.

OK, I have been having a 'Mag issue - lots and lots of broken paint. I realized that Punkworks might be a great place to get some advice. To make this easier on myself, I'm going to copy and paste my post from Automags.org.

My 'Mag breaks paint all the dang time, but my g6r is doing fine...

...this happens during cold/cold & wet weather. So I originally though it was weather related.

1.) Is this a common problem for mags?
2.)Any ideas on how I can make it gentler on paint?

I have already switched from the stock spring to a longer one. The foamie seems OK. I have tried different barrels. I wonder if it's not ball stack clipping, and larger paintballs would help... but it's "field paint only" at my field

I am using an AGD stock detent, and 2 shims in my Level 10. I have already been told to check the detent, which I just did. It doesn't appear that the edges of the detent are intruding into the breach.

I just read about the level 10 a little bit on the AutomagsUK.com site. They said that the Level 10 bolt is .685. I have been using a smaller barrel, and there is an obvious ring of wear around the bolt. Could bolt/barrel size mismatch be contributing to the problem? Although I had tried different barrels, none of them were smaller than .685.

Gosh I really want to get my 'Mag all happy and killy again! Posted Image---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After having posted this, I read on Automags UK that the Level 10 bolt is .685. I have been using barrels that are smaller than that. There IS wear on the front of my bolt.
The questions I want punkworks to answer is regarding products. Does anyone know of a barrel or kit (kit, preferably) that is chamfered out to a nice big size (say, .690) with a bore a small size more appropriate for today's paint? I was thinking of the iFit, as I've heard it's chamfered, but I wasn't sure if its opening was bigger than .685, which is a requirement for ruling out the bolt/barrel size mismatch issue.

I put three or four cases through my lv 10 mag last summer shooting the lurker 678 barrel exclusively and had few (if any) breaks.

Have you followed the Lv 10 tuning guide? have you tested the Lv10 with a swab?

http://automags.org/...l10/index.shtml

Lv10s only work as anti-chop bolts with the longer springs - you might need to get a new one. It sounds like you're on the right path with that but maybe the one you used isn't adequate.

I went back to the stock spring and emptied 2 hoppers without a problem.

I THINK I may have forgot to re-tune my level 10 when I went from the stock gold spring to the longer spring. I've had to add another shim, and then go down 1 carrier size. We'll see what happens.

spring length, carrier and shims aren't related necessarily. Just follow the tuning plan and you should be fine.

the carrier seals to the bold, the spacers determine when in the bolt movement the power stroke begins and the spring determines how hard the bolt pushes before the power stroke. All three can be tuned independently.

That was the LAST endorsement of the Eigenbarrel that I could handle. I just went and ordered one of each size.
