So I noticed this last night--

The TechPB Youtube Channel has 15,550 subscribers.

The TechPB Forums only have 6,770 registered users...

I thought that was interesting... Does anyone have any theories as to why? what about ideas to bring more users in?

That's all.

I think a lot of people who subscribe are people who spend a lot of time on Youtube but who do not necessarily want to be part of a message board. That is weird though, I would expect maybe a few more subscribers than members in these early stages, but twice as many?

Youtube is more popular than forums?

I'm pretty sure most people aren't interested in reading threads, making posts, and the like.

Agreed, most people just want to be amused and be fed information.

I also think that a lot of the viewers and subscribers on Mikes, Techpb page just simply arn't dedicated to the sport as much, or arn't interested. Or simply they believe that its a hassle to be a member. They're could be alot more growth in techpb, if Mike had a techpb promotional video up for people to see.

He's kinda got a few, where he mentions the forums are up, but those are mostly in the "news" videos, where the average non-dedicated paintballer isn't as likely to look.

I assume that most newer/curious players only watch the gun review shows, to help make descisions.

If it weren't for one boring ass day I probably wouldn't be a member. Its easier to watch an informative video then to sign up on a forum to sift through lots of crap. This forum is new, useful info here is few and far between. I have said this once before and will continue to stand by it, techpb-mike is known for his videos, it should stay that way; forums and everything else a distant second. You want to sift through a bunch of crap just go through the other major paintball forums and there you go...

I'm really gonna have to disagree with you on that. I find the forums EXTREMELY informative.

Well, I'm still new-ish to pb and was researching overboring vs underboring since everything the local's told me seemed contrary to my own tests. I found cockerboy and Mike's videos on this, subscribed, then came here and registered.

A vast majority of players are not into the forum scene. Hell I probably know more people offline than online and I know a lot of freaking people. Lets not forget the youtube chan has been around longer.

Like I said "this" forum is new and good info "here" is hard to comeby not because people are to lazy to search for it but rather because it hasn't yet been posted here. My point being why sign up here to learn little (compared to other forums) when your already a member at a forum thats well establish and a search can yeild many pages of results relating to your topic compared to here where a search would show up with no results or a few threads which are heavily spammed with outragously false info children claim to be true.

This forum, if it continues to maintain current activity, will slowly continue to grow, but until we see a huge wealth of posted information your not going to see the boom of new users like people have expected from the begining.

You need to be patient. Mike has a ridiculous following on youtube. Google themselves gave him producer rights for his content, and viewer ratings.

The forums is a small part of the TechPB whole. Most people are content to just watch the videos on youtube. You would be very surprised about how many people dont even use forums. They are the top 10% of the fanatics in general. Plenty of people are car enthusiast, but do you see new mini forums with 10k members.....nope, not really. Most people are content to just play the sport, or mod their car/computer and google something every once and a while, but not actually register and talk.

I would be interested in how many hits TechPB is getting daily, weekly etc..
