So? D5100 or t2i?

What's better for pics
What's better for price
Better for video
Better for use (like easy to see if focused)

Better for the price? The D5100 isn't much more worth than the 550D(I hate the rebel names from Canon)in performance.
If the D5100 gets a firmware update to support 60fps recording in 720p they will be way to similar in video capabilities.

Quality wise Nikon isn't behind Canon on video any more. A D5100 got beautiful video, even when compared to the 600D(T3i).
But Canon has that manual microphone adjusting, and that is quite important for serious videographers.

Both take stunning photographs for their price. And both have good viewfinders and live view.

What do you want? Canon or Nikon? That what it boil down to here. In the future what cameras do you want to upgrade to.
Semi-pro Canon has the 7D and Nikon has the D7000 or the D300s. Even though the D7000 is a "consumer" model, it still performs better than the D300s which is a "pro" model(The D7000 is a brand new model, bumped up a notch, the D300s is just a re-hash of the D300, which is a little old)

What type of lenses do you want? Nikon's pro lenses or Canon's L lenses?

To start? Kit lense. Then will probably get like a 55-200. I'm still not really sure if I'm going to do it or not thought.
