Would anyone know why my internet might be running at slow speed when only a few days ago it was fine.

I do have anti-virus that works, but maybe it's something else that might be wrong other then a possible virus?

What's your ISP? (Internet Service Provider) Because outside of upping your internet services, there's no way to make your internet faster.

Often it has to do with what's running in the background. Check your start up. Also if you are using an old virus scan it will slow you down. As well make sure your browser is current.

Not really going to effect your download speed, more so just slow down your computer. It has more to do with your Router's capabilities, NIC Cards capabilities, and/or ISP's capabilities (usually your modem). Now a virus might effect it a little bit. But those usually hijack your browser too.

If it's your Internet for sure, what you should be getting, adding a boster, or complaining to your ISP should fix it.

It's running alot smoother now, I thought it might have to deal with my ISP and all the fires going around here messing up power lines and telecomm. I ctrl + alt + Del to get my tast manager up and got rid of files that had little or no significance to operations and now it's back to normal. My son must of got on the computer last night as well(he's 2) and opened up a bunch of programs that were still running when I closed then out.

ISP traditionally slows down after school and before supper when the gamers are on. If it's suddenly slow always then look at your resources.

First thing to usually do is reboot because some programs may not have closed properly.

i still blame the fires.
There are 2 kinds of people in this world. Those who think they can and those who think they can't. both of them are right.

Downstream Rate: 2560 Kbps

Upstream Rate: 640 Kbps

I'm really wondering if it's the fires around here... it's been really on/off lately. one second it flys, next second it disconnects.</p>
