Axe. It is smoother and much quieter, and has one of the best stock triggers in paintball right now.

The axe wins in pretty much everything except ergonomics and maybe reliability. The ergonomics is also by opinions. I love the axe ergos.

Axe trigger is one of the best, if not the best. It is extremely reliable, user friendly, and has just about anything you need out of the box. The Etek is great but it is loud and the grip frame is fat.

I haven't used the axe yet but heard amazing things about them. My real pet peace and major turn off is that at that price range its still only a one piece barrel. I'm a huge fan of bore sizing paint and don't mind buying add on backs or inserts for the barrel but having to buy a whole new barrel system to be able to bore size the paint of a $500 gun really makes me twinge. But there is the le pdd pro axe for about $800 and it comes with the trendline board preinstalled and the empire freak kit with all 5 inserts. To me that gun is a steal but once they are sold out they're gone for good. That is truthfully possibly my next gun. But to be truthful I think that for most part you're always get a lot for your money with most of the $500 guns out there so its really mostly personal preference and at $500 I will almost always prefer the etek.

Jeez, I'd rather own an etek but ill admit the axe is the better overall gun.

Why would you want to own a inferior gun given the option Posted Image

The Axe is your best bet for sure.

I would choose an etek personally. I was considering an Axe due to all the hype around them, but after asking around there were 3 separate players on 3 separate occassions that had boards fry on them, and I'm not a huge fan of the way the reg isn't user serviceable. Besides that I find Axes ugly as hell.

That being said, Eteks are loud as hell, and I don't like how they feel in the hands.

Because I am a very vain man and the axe looks (IMO) ugly as sin. But anyways that's why I'm buying a drone dx next week instead of an axe or etek

While I agree the Axe is in function a great marker. The ergos on it are all wrong. I've held several and the best fitting had it's foregrip taped, heavily to round it out. As for the Etek, I've heard a few fire and found they aren't as loud as people claim.
