I am new to the sport of paintball. I started to really like the sport while going with my friend. I think that I'm ready for my own gear and want some advice on a good setup for $400. Any advise?

I would recommend the GOG enmey marker, empire helix mask, halo too hopper, and the ninja 50/4500 tank then just upgrade the marker and mask as you get better.

I heard that you can upgrade the GoG eNMeny to electronic. Is this true?

I heard that to, but no electronic upgrade is available for it right now that i know of. They said they would make it for it so just have to wait and see what they do.

Do you have any other markers that are good under $200?

What is a good pod pack to get? Is buying pads or protection worth the money?

if you can go with a 4500psi carbon fiber tank and the size depends on how long your arms are. try to get a ninja tank. but the best seller is the 50 and 68 cu.in. tanks

I say go with the empire 48/3000 tank off of ans gear.for like and the proto rail plus i4 kit for 325 than get a nxe inexpensive pod pack for like 22 and it comes with pods so you should be set and the i4 come with either a gold or mirror lense

This is good stuff, but you are lacking a tank.

I would drop the jersey, pants, and mask. Instead of paying $93 for an OK mask and a pair of pants and a jersey, I'd rather pay for V-force Grillz or proflexes and neglect the pants and jersey.
Granted that some jerseys give better venting, I think they are more for looks than performance. Pants should also come after the mask.

My personal list is:

Mask: $90+S&H V-force Grillz

http://www.ansgear.c...llmaskblack.htm

or

$63 + S&H for JT Proflexes

http://www.ansgear.c...roflexblack.htm
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tank: Used Ninja/Guerilla Air/Crossfire carbon fiber tank: $100
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Loader: $75 + S&H Invert Too

http://www.ansgear.c...ooloaderblk.htm
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pack: $35 + S&H Proto Fighter Pack

http://www.ansgear.c...erharness34.htm
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This leave you $100 for Pads and Pants if you care for them. You can rent a gun until you can afford to buy your own. I'd rather you have great gear and no gun, than a gun and cheap gear.

Since you're new to the sport, my suggestion would be a Tippman 98, J&J Ceramic barrel, 20 oz. CO2 tank with anti-siphon, reasonably priced electric hopper (foce feed is not necesary), decent pack like an NXE, decent antifog goggles, and cleats.

Then take the rest of the money and spend it on field fees and paint. As you go along you can figure out what you need and what works for you. Don't worry about your gear, worry about getting as much game time as you can. I will say your mask should be your first and most important upgrade. You can't play if you can't see.

If you don't mind camo

Pants $50 (Was told it was better than prevails, which I have)
http://www.ansgear.c...lpantsterra.htm

Slider shorts run between $40-60

Elbow pads are $40-60

Mask $60-110

*Optional Knee pads* $40-60

Air tank of choice $50-200

Super hopper of choice $100-180

Have the gear before the marker

Don't get a helix, I had one they're heavy and uncomfortable. Go for a high end mask
