so in the next month i*m going to buy a luxe. I have always wanted one and after testing the waters i came up with it would be cheaper to buy 1.0 then upgrade it.
My main question is besides bolt rub what other signs are there besides that to show its a lemon?

Like all electros. Check the wire harnesses. They get damaged easily. A shooting vid usually helps but it doesn't tell small leaks.

how do you figure?
luxe 1.0 in good condition goes for about $700 ball park(probably less).
luxe 2.0 core is $100. luxe 2.0 board is another $115. The 2.0 eyes are still another $30.
might as well spend $800-900 and buy a luxe 1.5 outright that probably already has those parts in it.
my recommendation is that if you're going to get a luxe 1.0, dont put money into it by upgrading it. if you want the newer parts, spend more upfront and start with a 1.5 as most will have feathertouch and upgraded eye covers.

Check to make sure the eyes work since they are ribbon eyes and get damaged easily if not properly maintained (i.e. being an idiot and putting them back in wrong after cleaning). Make sure the Luxe still has its feather touch manifold screw (people lose these all the time somehow). Check they eye covers make sure they have all the proper items such as spring/foam pads, magnets, detents, detent spring (screw if screw modded). Air it up and make sure it isn't leaking from the grip frame or anywhere else. If its the bolt thats a completely easy fix, 99% of the time it's an oring. Other than that just check for bent frames and you are good to go. I love my Luxe and upgrading a 1.0 is the way to go. I LOVE the 2.0 core but the 2.0 board isn't completely necessary but its nice. That and if you can find one with screw modded eye covers I like that better than the 2.0 eye covers. One thing is for sure, you will never be disappointed in a Luxe
