How do you dry fire without air?

I think he means just to cock it with no air. If thats the case, just make sure you take out the detent to prevent wear.

and make sure your bolt is greased so that there is no excessive use on the o-rings.

Dumbest feeling thing in the world is a torn o-ring in the middle of a game.

You don't exactly wear out the detent on an autococker. its just whenever the ball bearing decides to fall out lol

Long story short, yes. It's fine to "Dry Fire" your pump as much as you like.
