For the longest time I've had this incredible fascination with airsoft for being more realistic and more as a training thing, as opposed to paintball for being more of a game. Both looked fun, but if I wanted to limit myself to a magazines worth of ammo, a realistic armament, a more tactical arrangement and playing style, and a way to live-fire practice with a "firearm" against human targets safely, then I was all for it!
Electronic guns as a cheap means for full automatic fire never did it for me, I want to go for as real as possible! Gas blowback operation, last-shot hold-open on the bolt, a plate carrier full of magazines to change out. Yeah!
Then I saw the electronic guns with 400+ round "hi-cap" magazines, and videos of guys "laning" and laying down heavy suppressive fire with essentially M4 carbines... And then it hit me.
Most of the guys who play airsoft, at least it seems to me, are just as bad as paintballers when it comes down to ROF and magazine (hopper) capacity. Why would I spend the money to outfit myself with new gear when I can encounter the same situations and the same people when paintballing? And the gear and fields are more accessible.
If I found a community or field that respected the realism enough to say "no" to anyone with a "hi-cap" magazine, then I'd play no problem!
I'd get myself a GBB 1911 with a 8 rnd mag, and a GBB AR of some kind with a 30 round mag, get a bunch of spare mags and a plate-carrier with a bunch of pouches, some good face protection, get my cammies on, and go running through the woods playing "soldier" with the rest of the idiots out there and I won't feel completely outgunned and will feel like there is more reliance on intelligence, skill, and concealment than firepower.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not afraid of being outgunned. I am an avid stock-class player in the paintball world. And I'm not saying that finesse over firepower won't mean the difference between winning and losing in paintball. But when I try to get away from paintball I want to get away from it, not just twist it...
And I do understand that ROF is a big part of both games. But in paintball when everyone has a "marker" set at X speed and X bps, if you lower those then you are making a choice yourself to be more difficult. In Airsoft when different systems have different velocities, rates of fire, and ranges, there are set roles the players need to fit into.
When an AK-47 can lay down M249 level suppressive fire we have a problem. That system just broke out of it's role. That man should be playing as more of a rifleman than a support soldier.
Please, correct me if I am wrong in any way. But as an interested person looking in from the outside with intense curiosity, I see nothing desirable in the gameplay...

Because you live in Canada and are 14 years old the places you can go to play airsoft will be very small amount the only place near me I'm near the GTA is SOF Paintball
What I suggest you do is look for places around you that let under 18 year olds play
BTW watcher the place I go to play has a 600 round cap for AEG'S and and unlimited amount is aloud if you have a spring or GBBR no Hi-Caps ever no Mid-Caps at certain events so I've never really encountered those problems you just have to find a good place to play

Just because someone plays with hi caps doesn't mean you have to. I personally run a 200 aeg with either mid to low caps. The problem with GBB rifles is that they require higher maintenance and the magazines are expensive. A We g36c gbbr costs 210 dollars. The mags that go with it are 40 a piece and only hold 30 rounds. So if you wanted to outfit yourself with 8 - 10 mags, you're going to be paying double the cost of the gun itself.
Until GBB mags come down in price I'll stick to AEG's.
