The NT was cannibalizing sales for the DM line.
The NT was targeted to players who wanted more of a "poppet" feel, but everyone assumed it was going to feel like a normal DM so they didn't bother except dye fans.

I never understand this argument. If having two high end guns is so bad for a company, then how does Planet Eclipse get away with the Geo and Ego? Why do many of the high end companies try and put out two different guns, rather than just focusing on one?

Like stated people thought it was just another DM, nothing special.
planet also has catered to players needs. they make all different levels of markers. something for everyone.
Dye has been known for one marker, and that's the dm, until they created the dam all other attempts at another marker have been futile.
