I'm looking for another pump, something a little different and I came across a few thumpers during my search and realized I know next to nothing about them, other than latsabb waited 9 months for his . So, any and all info on them is greatly appreciated.

They are... quirky.

At first, they were pretty bad, the v1 internals didn't like to work.

I have serial number 0017, with the v1 internals, it does not always work, and sometimes shoots when you pump it.

Brian at metadyne is a really helpfull guy, and if you are having problems, he will help you out, and it is free to send it in and upgrade your internals regardless of if you are the original owner or not.

You also have to use vasaline on them instead of normal paintball oil.


In the end, they are fun, and when they work, it is a cool gun to have.

the one I'm looking at has the v4 piston. You pump the barrel, correct?

Ask JJohnson on here about his, I do not know if he still has it, but I liked it when I held it, SUPER light pump stroke.

you can pull on the barrel, push on the back, your use the side plates if you have them.

what's maintanence like? And disassembly for that matter.

Maintaining it isn't hard, if it works, I wouldn't touch it. Dissasembly is a bit different. It isn't like any other gun. It isn't hard, but it isn't like a phantom.

Well I was able to have trouble dissasembling a phantom Hmm. I'm debating a thumper or phantom.

well, a thumper is nice, but they are two totally different guns. Personally, I'd go with a phantom. They are lighter, more customizable, and reliable. The thumper is more or less something to have to say you have it.

From what I've seen online, it's kinda hit-or-miss with the Thumper.

I don't own one, but have used one.
The one I used must have been one of the good ones, because it had no problems when I was playing.
The most significant thing I noticed about it was that it was very easy to use "off-handed".

I'm a southpaw, and have trouble pumping right-handed.
The reciprocal barrel of the Thumper and the reverse loading action meant instead of the off hand pulling (a problem for me) now the off hand is pushing (much less of a problem).
It took a couple games to get used to it, but I liked it.

The only reason I haven't bought one is all that chatter online about people having problems.
I don't want to buy a new marker that may have inherent problems.

If I could find a used one with all the kinks worked out that works as well as the one I tried, I'd jump on it.

i have one with v1 internals.. its shitt.. shott one shoot then it startet to leak..

and good luck getting ahold of metadyne. i have send some mails to them but no answer.

yeah that's the only thing keeping me from buying one, the problems with them.

I've had both a fun time and problems with mine. Broke down the second time I played with it (piston bent), contacted Metadyne and they sent me a V2 piston. Now it has worked fine ever since with the exception of the piston cap having to be re-tightened one time. As I've said in a Thumper thread before, get the Thumper as a fun, different gun. Get a Phantom if you want a workhorse that will never fail you.
