I'm going to give you the harsh truth. I'm going to be mean because I need to shock you into realizing what you're doing.
If you follow through with this you're a fucking pansy loser. They go behind your back and cheat, and you're going to play all hunky dory but then shoot him in the back? What a lame ass pussy move. When problems like this come up, you deal with it head on. I have no clue what way would be best for you because I'm sure this is a huge intricate situation, but there is no beating around the bush. You need to deal with this in a strait forward fashion. That's the bottom line. Face forward and deal with your problems. You can't hide from them and go "pew pew" at them from a distance (metaphorically and literally). I know this is what you don't want to hear, but it's life. The sooner you learn to deal with your problems directly, the better off you'll be. Again, I am not suggesting any form of assault, just a direct approach in whatever form your social situation necessitates. It could be as simple as walking up to him and telling him "You're an asshole cheating douchebag" or something along those lines.

To clarify my exgirlfriend is the one who cheated on me with him. I dont plan on shooting him in the back. I have verbally confronted both him and her and the only thing keeping me from knocking his teeth out of his asshole is the fact that I do not want to go to prison.
