So, for part of my police academy training i had to get taser certified in order to carry a taser (x26 to be specific) i also have to get my ass handed to me by getting lit up by a taser. needless to say i am now a certified taser user.

all i have to say, DONT MESS WITH THE POLICE BECAUSE GETTING TASED HURTS LIKE A BIZZNATCH. i'd rather get tased then pepper sprayed anyday.

I remember I went to a Junior Sherriff program one summer and I volunteered to be tased and pepper-sprayed (I had to sign a waiver with parent's permission and everything). They both fucking suck.
Getting tased, although it only lasts for 8 seconds if I recall correctly, feel like a life-time of not being able to do shit with your body. You just lock-up with just "fuck fuck fuck" going through your mind. Fortunately it stops after a bit and you're just left shaking and tingling from the shock of it all (so long as you didn't hit your head or anything on the way down).
Pepper-spray isn't as dramatic, but it hurts like a bitch and keep hurting like a bitch for a good long while. And just try to breathe while it's happening. Imagine the dumbest-looking face you could make and that's how you'll look for a good minute or so. After that, you won't be able to see for quite a while as it'll hurt too much to try and open your eyes.

At least with a taser it's over and done. Pepper spray burns, and burns, and burns, and then burns some more when you take a shower to get it out of your hair and whatnot. And it probably stinks up your clothes for a bit too. I'd much rather be tasered twice than pepper sprayed. Unfortunately, tasers generally don't work with heavy winter jackets, so it's good that you're in California.

For Marine Corps Base Defense force training, I had to get mace'd (worse then pepper spray by far), fend off two "attackers" with a foam riot baton, then get tased and after being tased, run an obstacle course, all while my face was still full of mace.
