Just got a X7 Phenom and very new to paintball. People have told me I should get the Tippmann X7 Flatline barrel because it gives me more range but I havent seen one in action other than on youtube. Just wondering if it would be a good idea to get the flatline barrel? Anyone use it? Does it give you more range? Thanks in advance for all the help.

if you want to go the backspin route, dont get the flatline - get an Apex.
The ultimate truth in paintball is that the interaction between the gun and the player is far and away the largest factor in accuracy, consistency, and reliability.

If not the backspin route, why not? and what Apex barrel? all I see so far is ones for 98 and A5. Very new to paintball so not sure what the backspin would do for me and why an Apex. Thanks for the help.

Don't get the flatline. My friend and I shot out 98 Customs side by side, my friends with his Flatline, mine with my Apex, and the Apex destroyed the Flatline on range and accuracy. Backspin will make you shots go straight so you will not need to arch your shots very much. I believe that X7s and A-5s use the same threads.

Get an Apex definitely. Its removable from the barrel it comes with and you can put it on any barrel (almost).

Heres a tut to put it on any barrel.

Ok so I watched it but what sucks is no matter what you need to aim the gun up for it to go straight. I have a stock and stuff on my marker and that would just be kinda weird to aim my gun up just for it to go straight. You know what I mean? Or am I just dont understanding it? Thanks again.

The ball has a little drop straight out of the barrel but then they fly forward.

You should get the Apex anyways though, you can turn it off mid-match if you have any problems with trajectory.

I'm pretty sure that the drop is not drastic, not to mention the fact that there are endless possibilities with the apex. The spins and curves work wonders, if you can get over the fact that the ball dops a little bit when it comes out the barrel i'm sure you will be pleased with the apex.

I also have a stock on my marker and aiming up slightly doesnt bother me at all, dont worry about it, you will be fine. You will only need to aim it up slightly.

You only have to aim upwards if you're using like setting 8.

RIP BORG, you will be dearly missed in the paintball world for all you have done for us.

Like everyone else has said, get an Apex barrel instead lol. Much nicer than flatline.

Evrybodys pretty much summed it up. It will add range, but just buy an Apex. It only $40. It has adjustability. You can curve balls around objects in any direction, right, left, up, and possible down. Mike has an Apex video.
