I did some testing with Chris from Swap My Tank, here is the link I suggest you don't view it in a mobile device and with a good browser (may God have mercy on your souls if you view it in old IE) it uses javascript heavily.

Its things like this that make me glad I still lurk on the board every now and then...

Am I correct in assuming that the blue line is the output of the tank, and the green is the output of the HPR?

cool, can you provide a key for your graphs? maybe label the axis, tell us what the colors are and indicate units?

Holy Crap your right, I didn't put axis labels on there. After staring at it enough I just glossed over that.

We think that PE reg was a lemon, just wanted to show what a "bad" reg can look like and do.

I didn't understand the graphs either last night. I can't see them now (office blocks java). I assumed that the vertical axis was PSI while the horizontal represented time (in milliseconds?). That being said, I have no idea how the test was conducted. One shot? Multiple shots? Shot string till empty (given the downward trend towards the right (in some cases, reaching bottom or near bottom)?
Markers I shoot:
T9.1SD "Totmacher"| Woodstalker Ion MK-II | SP-1 W/Qloader
Reference Threads:
First Strike Field Listing |
External Ballistics Primer

yup. azreal - we need a write up of the test so that the data means something.

That Crossfire reg is like a rock. I though Ninja's were supposed to be the best.

I agree. I thought previous Punkworks tests showed that the Ninja reg had the best recharge rate. I'm not as surprised at the SHP's performance but I am surprised from the Ultralite and the 3ks performance.

Was this test done with the old non-servicable Crossfire reg or one of their new aluminum regs? Which was used in the Punkworks tests?

we have not tested recharge, just steady state and linearity.
The ultimate truth in paintball is that the interaction between the gun and the player is far and away the largest factor in accuracy, consistency, and reliability.

The notes help a lot but for me, there's still a lot of questions about what exactly was going on.

For example:
SMT DM7 Crossfire LP

0-10s, is something happening or, is that noise in the data (I'm guessing the latter)? Then, at around 11S, large fluctuations for 5 seconds. Was that shooting? Then, a rise and dip in the pressure til it stabilizes at 40s. Then dips again at 63-73 seconds.

Or,
SMT DM7 SLP 3k

Three single shots followed by Ramping at 13BPS, followed by semi shots?

Markers I shoot:
T9.1SD "Totmacher"| Woodstalker Ion MK-II | SP-1 W/Qloader
Reference Threads:
First Strike Field Listing |
External Ballistics Primer

Hey I was just looking for the old reg tests. This is still the finest body of reg testing out there, it would be interesting to see how all the modern regs stack up.

Quote

SMT DM7 CRossfire LP 2800

So, if I understand correctly.

SMT = Swap My Tank
DM7 = Dye Matrix 7 marker
Crossfire LP = Crossfire Low Pressure Regulator
2800 = a fill of 2800psi in the tank

Thanks for the tests.
