We know that we should underbore and given our choices we really can't under bore too much for the most part. So is there really a point in having more than one barrel back?

If you live in a place that fluctuates in temperatures and humidity.

If you travel a lot around the country. If there are extreme temperature fluctuations.

I say no. I am a big proponent of the one tightbore, one stock bore setup.

Depends on how cold it gets and how much your paint fluctuates in size... if you end up +-.05 cal, you can get in trouble with one bore, otherwise I would agree.

Wouldn't it be best just to go with a .690" or similar? Overboring doesn't hurt, so if you just chose according to the largest paint you expect to encounter then that should shoot everything else equally well. I use an underbore just to try and use less air, but if you're not worried about running out of air I think a single large bore would be the simplest option.

Yeah stock .689-690 bores are just about perfect for that, which is why I say keep the stock bore.

yup, I'll extend that to three barrels or so. Stock, .685-ish, .678-ish.

That's let you shoot any paint from .678 to something in the high .690's and keep yourself in a comfy underbore range.

True but I'm sort of keeping the budget player in mind with that recommendation. Many if not most younger players glaze over at the thought of buying two barrels ala carte.

Except for my main tournament/show marker that i got a full CP barrel set for, I keep the stock(unless i get the marker used with no stock barrel then I toss what came on it) and get a CP barrel bored for freak inserts, then I use brass freak inserts.
