hey i bought a 1 oz container of GOG gr33se for my extcy (awesome gun for the price) and i wondered how i should lube up my HPA tank. its a guerrilla tank, myth reg. i know not to lube the fill nipples, but i want to know if its safe to use that type of lube. ive only seen on threads that people are suggesting "blah blah oil" and no one is saying anything about grease.

Dow 33 grease (that's what gog gr33se is) is perfectly safe to use on the piston inside the tank reg. and servicing your tank reg is something you only need to do annually at most. I like to do it at the beginning of each summer, since that's when I tend to play most.

I don't believe Guerrilla regs are user serviceable. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

You need the special hex key with the hole drilled in the end, but they do come apart for service. At least the myth g2 does. I can't say for the regular myth reg.

#1 rule when dealing with tank regs - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. There is an awful lot that can go wrong, and even if you play all the time you don't have to do it even annually. I'd just leave it alone.

And yet, Ninja recommends an annual cleaning and inspection of the internals. Hell, we do it to our marker regs, why not do it to the tank reg once a year? It isn't nearly that hard, just as easy, maybe easier, than doing your HPR.

Dealing with 3000-4500 psi is much different than 200 psi. OP sounds fairly new based on him saying he just bought what is probably his first lube. I think learning your guns internals inside and out first is better. There is nothing wrong with OP doing it, but I think waiting is a better choice.

Myth regs are very easy to tear apart, clean, inspect, and relube. There are the videos, and plenty of people have done this with absolutely no problems. Everyone learns at some time.

How old is the tank/reg and how much use has it seen?

The threads are a completely different story haha... I find that a thin coat of regular white lithium grease from any car store works good.

Triflow is great for tank threads. Put a drop or two on it every few times you screw it in.

If it has only been used four times then it is fine for at least a year or two.

Ninja still recommends tearing the reg apart, cleaning it, inspecting it, and relubing once per year. I can't disagree with them, as they have been making reg for longer than most people have been playing paintball.

But aren't their tanks completely user serviceable? I would think because of that their regs would be more susceptible to dirt and/or debris

So are GA and the newer Crossfire. Actually, so are the older regs that they made for others as just PSI. But if you never open a reg up, it isn't in any more contact with dirt and such than one that isn't user serviceable. They still recommend that you do it once a year. Makes sense, afterall, look at how often one would maintain their HPR on a marker.

The Myth reg is very easy to work on and user friendly when it comes to servicing the regulator.

You do not need a special allen key to open up the top flange, any 3/16 allen key will work; you need to push down the pin and make sure the Air system is empty.
