Hi guys,

I just bought a Nexus ego 6, but it broke... So im after a reliable marker, easy to maintain, wont break on field, if it does break on field easy to repair... The usual things you want from a marker...

So would the G3 be it? does anyone know of the reliability of the marker? plus im looking for something thats a bit newer, so when i do, eventually break it (i break almost everything ) i can get it repaired under warranty/ relativly cheaply, compared to what it'll cost me to repair my ego...

So, any advice would be muchly appreciated

I haven't heard of any big problems with the G3's. 95% of the time the reliability of a marker depends on the user. If you take care of your marker, it will take care of you. Dangerous Power is a great company with great customer service, if you have a problem they will help you out.

The G3s design is nice and simple. It should be pretty reliable. Now, I have had a few problems with mine but I narrowed it down to the reg being shit on first run G3s.
The nexus is going to be a lot nicer though. Egos are super reliable and should be decommissioned unless it explodes. Can you go into detail on the issues it has?

Heres the low down:

The gun won't fire, with eyes on or off, with a full tank of air, it jsut wont shoot. I've narrowed it down to board problems (its an old Tadao M7), the cable connecting the solenoid to the board, the solenoid, or the LPR o rings, which on inspection look pretty much perfect... I plan on taking a look at the board with a voltmeter tommorow night, to see if it is the board just not charging the solenoid when the trigger is pulled. will replace the cables, but if that doesnt work, im basically screwed. being 15 and having the scottish tourneys like just over a month away... :S

Anyone diagnose my problem?

the G3 is really reliable. I haven't had any problems whatsoever, and in the case that something does go wrong, you can always call Dangerous Power. They have great customer service. But since you say that a tourny is on your way, i would advise to get a new board. the stock is not tournament legal. the trigger bounces a lot, and there's not much you can do about it. you have to get a new board with the debounce settings. and the boards cost from $35-$100, depending which one you get.

the g3 is great but if you use the wrong lube or screw in your eye plates in to tight it will mess up your gun

Why would you say the board isn't tourney legal? Its perfectly fine it just doesnt't have psp 3 shot. But if that really bugs you, you can spend $35 for the upgrade board which has trigger programming and has 3 shot.

I have to ask because I have seen people with egos go through this before. Did you put in a fresh out of package, brand name battery. If yes, read on.

Have you inspected the noid? Sometimes people screw the grips down too tight and crack the noid. Otherwise, the board may be fried.

The board isn't legal because you can't get it down to 10 bps. It only uses dip switches. The upgrade board is though and it's only $35 which is great.

As for reliability, it's not as reliable as an Ego. I don't know what happened to yours, it sounds like an anomaly, but G3s are decently reliable, just not super reliable. There are known issues with the regulator seat breaking (there is a modified replacement part you can get for free plus shipping) and your standard maintenance issues, but it should be fine.

because you can't set the bps. i got pulled out recently in a tournament, due to my trigger bouncing. and the tournament was only semi-auto and they thought i was ramping, but there's a sweet spot on the trigger which will make it shoot like 20bps. the upgraded boards have debounce settings, bps settings, psp settings and much more. i just recently bought a new trigger kit and the ape board

dont know if its to late but saw a guy buy a g3 se on the saturday before a tournie... have a couple of dry fires and shots of it on the sat

then played tournie with it sunday and i saw it fail on him on feild..... also saw him beating the shit out of it to get it to work again.....didnt want to work after that either.... shock horror....


just thought id put that out there as i personally saw him buy it and it go down on him..... heard alot of "rumours" of them being unreliable.... and now seeing one go down has firmly kept my feet planted in the ego pen

want a good backup try to track down a cheap ego 07 ... its wat my backups gonna be

If you are still looking for a G3 also consider the SE version, It comes with a two piece 14" instead of a 12", a different trigger (some like it better some don't), the upgraded stock board (not the ape board), polished instead of powder finished (personal preference), upgraded reg seat to help prevent reg issues, and a limited lifetime warranty.


Guy above beat me ^ lol, but in response to that, i've seen every type of gun go down on the field, in fact before i stopped playing at my last field we had two kids who shot egos and they were down all the time, does that mean the ego is a bad gun? not at all. But with every paintball gun company, there are gonna be lemons, and there are gonna be alot more people that don't know how to properly setup a marker and don't read up on something before they buy it to learn how to properly setup and maintain their markers.

just offering an opinion but as a response to this

the guy was sponsored/team owned by the feild manager (also shop owner on that feild) so im pretty sure it would of been setup properly but you can never be sure


and yeah i guess all companies can make lemons.... but ive been hearing a few issues about them....

but again just offering my POV i happen to love the look and feel of the gun and was considering getting one... but it all means diddly squat if its gonna die on the feild


and yeah ive seen pretty much every gun at my feild go down at least once... but not practically fresh out of the box....

Oh i totally understand, of course seeing a gun go down on somebody will give you a bad feeling towards that marker, everyone is biased by nature and by experiences.

Oh and not to disagree with you, but when i was a manager of phoenix paintball here in alabama, we had a few field owned/sponsored teams. There's a good amount of players that are good on the field, but not so much mechanically and don't have good sense in equipment. Most people don't know what they are doing or talking about, it's just a fact of life i suppose =p lol

I used to have a G3 and I had no problems with it. Its fast, small, light, THE best ASA, great feedneck, GREAT bolt, decent barrel, decent trigger. Problems I have heard about the G3 are the Reg and how it can break down so call DP for a new piston, and get a new board, no PSP 3 shot on the stock one.
