what is a "bump"

In a trade or sale people commet "bump" and I don't understand this term can someone explain this to me? Thanks

When someone replies in a thread it moves the thread to the top. A bump is just a simplistic word to do just that

On this forum it is allowed every 12 hours and it just brings the thread to the top of the "new content" or the b/s/t/ thread so more people can see it.

Although technically it doesn't mean that, a bump is just what it is, bumping the thread. It just so happens that the acronym of BUMP can stand for "bring up my post."
