I know this thread's been made before, but I want to find a good read for the winter. I've finished reading the Inheritance Series(amazing books, almost teared up when I finished with them.....) I've also read the Twilight books(weren't terrible) a few Alex Cross books, and the Lightning thief series. What books do you reccomend? And have any of you read the Kite Runner? If so, how was it?

Have you read the "Hunger Games" series of books? Great series. Only 3 books long, but it's still amazing.

Really? A military treatise is your favorite book? That has no... anything, other than very basic and general concepts. Yes we are all aware it makes you sound awesome to say "Art of War" but come on. Every topic in the text is so general it can be applied to anything you want it to be. The only reason it's so well known is because it's so damn old.

Come on. :dodgy:

My favorite book is... Robin Crusoe I suppose. The Eye of the World is up there too. It's the first book in The Wheel of Time series.

This was a fantastic book, however my favorite has to go to either A Walk in the Woods or the books by Douglas Adams.

I've read them too, they were pretty good although I felt myself wanting to stab myself when I got halfway through the second book.....

Have you read Dune? Everyone should read Dune at least once in their life, if not the whole series.

The Hobbit

By far my favorite book. Read it more times than I can remember
It's all about the game and how you play it, All about control and if you can take it
All about your debt and if you can pay it, It's all about pain and who's gonna make it

If that's the book about the middle eastern boy, then yeah I've read it. It's a really powerful book, and it's written extremely well, I'd highly recommend it.

Merlin-avalon. I read them years ago and somehow I still rank them as some of the most interesting books I've read. I remember being 12 and actually wanting to read. That's not something you could say about all 12 year olds when you give them about 3000-4000 pages to read lol

I also plan on re-reading them this summer because they still are my favorite books come to think of it.

You should read the foundation series if you can remember important plot points and characters, its really good.

How did you like Inheritance? I thought it was alright, I thought Paolini just kept on breaking him down as a character too much though and the ending sort of just seemed like he wanted to get it done and over with.

Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit
Dune
Harry Potter
Brave New World
The Giver
Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons
Most of the Star Wars books
Any Manga based on Anime that I've watched
Religious texts like Tao Te Ching, Quaran, Bible, etc. Good stuff to read even if you don't follow a religion, in my opinion.
Any mechanical book for car engines, electronics, building blueprints, etc.
