Marqs are great markers from BL but they are just not my cup of tea.

They dropped the name and developed the Victory which still runs on the Marq engine.

Probably, like many, they were scared away by the idea of pressure testers and different types of lube you need to use etc.

It's somewhat of a compromise between user interface and a more streamlined design.
On older markers like the Alias, they had a big clunky gauge that stuck out on the side. The gauge was somewhat necessary as Bob Long's guns are a bit more picky about what pressure they run on. However, a great majority of Bob Long owners took the gauge off after they set the pressure since it was no longer needed. However, if they did anything to their gun that may have changed the pressures (e.g. rebuilding the reg), they'd have to either put the gauge back in or blindly set it by tediously adjusting and readjusting after shooting.
So Bob Long guns started coming with pressure testers that work somewhat like a quick-disconnect gauge that allowed them to have a more streamlined design (since it no longer needed room for a gauge to stick out somewhere) as well as maintaining an interface for the user when it was needed.
At least that's my theory...
