I was peacefully sitting doing homework with all my new gear next to me including my brand new ninja 68 4500 with a standard regular. I had recently gotten it filled to test out my new gun. I shot it down to 3000 psi. All of a sudden, air was coming out near the bonnet and was probably a burst disk. I ran from my room fearing for my life and it stopped after like 20 seconds. It was really loud and once it finally died down, i renetered my room. THere is no air left in it. How do i tell if the disk is burst because there was water around the reg. There wasn't a chip prior but after ther was one. WHAT HAPPENED. I bought it off ANSgear so perhaps they damaged it before. Could it have been keeping the tank at 3000 psi for more than a week? Could it have been bad filling by my proshop? Could it just be a defect? I never dropped it it was in its originally cardboard box.

Forgot to mention there is red grease coming out of where the bonnet screws on to the reg.

I can tell you that the water is a product of the rapid release of HPA. That's why your barrel might get a little water around it if you shoot a hopper and then some without stopping. This happened to me when I first bought my Crossfire 45/45. I took literally 5 shots out of it then the burst disk blew off. It was really loud and lasted about 20 seconds as well.

it wasn't on my gun when it happened. It was in its original box all by itself. Why would a section of the outside chip off? Would it still be usable?? I just lost $160 which is a lot of money

Ninja has great customer service. Call them up and explain the situation.

just call them. fastest response and its easier to tell your story in a way that it makes sense.

sounds to me like you just had a burst disc take a dive. its nothing serious and totally safe as thats why its there.
also, if the tank got a chip, chances are it was just the coating on the outside. while i'd get it replaced or resealed, it doesn't really do anything to the tank.

No it's not usable anymore. Just call Ninja or Ansgear and see what they can do for you. :)

Ill probably get a new 50 4500 ninja tank from a local proshop to use next weekend and when i have time i can send the broken tank in for repairing the chip and reg. If its still under warranty will i only have to pay for shipping? Will the warranty cover fixing the burst disk, reg, and chip. Once i get the repaired tank back ill decide which one i want to keep depending on if i prefer 50 or 68. The one i don't like as much i could probably sell for around 130 used right if it still has more than 4 years of hydro left.

But i am not even sure it is a blow burst disk. Ninja said "Sometimes the piston orings do not seal and it will leak between the bonnet and the body." Which could be it since there is red grease coming out of where the bonnet connects to the reg. Since i will have to send in the 68 45 for chip repair i might as well have them fix up the reg, somethign i am uncomfortable with.

The tank is NOT safe to use. Do NOT try using it.

Ninja has good CS, and they wont repair your tank, they will just replace it.

I do not see fibers exposed but I agree with everyone, call Ninja because this sounds like a faulty part in which case they send you a new everything.

On the bright side we all know your tank loves you, even if it is an oddly shaped heart.

Ya that would be great if i could get it replaced. I would hate to have to play with this tank and have a constant fear that the same thing might happen again. Plus a gel coat repair for this would be expensive since it is a lot of damage. And to be absolutely sure that this doesn't happen again i would have to purchase a new reg costing another $40. I would much rather replace for cost reasons and that it would take too much time to wait for the tank to be repaired. I discovered that the tank was on the table and from the air gushing out the tank moved and fell off the table. Ninja is in crystal lake, Illinois. I live like an hour away from there so could i drive there instead of shipping my tank?
