What are area stamps?
There are two main area stamps for those of us in North America, which are the DOT stamp and the TC stamp. DOT is what the USA requires on all tanks, and Canada requires both DOT and TC stamps (TC means literally, Transport/Travel Canada).
Look at the wording amoung all the jumble of letters and numbers you will find them.

1. You MUST have pictures of all items written by hand with your TechPB screen name and the date on a piece of paper in each picture with item. If posting videos in your sales ad you MUST also have a picture to abide by rule#1. No picture links to sites that require viewers to register on that site or require viewers to pay a membership fee to view.

Note - Your TechPB name and date must be hand written so it cannot be photoshopped in.

2. (updated 2/28/2010) All new pictures of HPA tanks must include the full DOT hydro labeling, including the born-on date and DOT-E, DOT-SP, or TC-SU numbers.

Well I've been noticing that many tank ads are lacking the section for area stamps. So I thought I'd sticky up a post about it so people will know what they are so we aren't missing that info any longer in ads.

So anyway area stamps are safety certifications showing the tanks meet national safety standards. The two types of stamps are DOT and TC, DOT is the stamp needed for tanks being used in the US and tanks to be used in Canada MUST have BOTH DOT and TC stamps. TC actually stands for Transport Canada so without both of those stamps that tank is useless to a Canadian baller, fields won't even fill them.

These stamps can be found on the label and stand out quite clearly so please make note of them in your ads from now on and if you have an ad missing them please add them in, thanks.

What does it mean by the born date

The born date is when the bottle was made and is printed on the bottle's label. All bottles have a 15 year lifespan before they get tossed. Carbon Fiber tanks have a 5 year hydro as well as their aluminum (steel) counterparts and Fiber glass tanks have a 3 year hydro date. The only exception to this rule is if it under 2 inches in diameter.

The born date would look something like this:
12 X 12

The "x" represents the symbol between the month and the year. Most of the time it is a dash, triangle or a "C".


CROSSFIRE tank:
The born date is 11/10 -look on the bottom right- (November 2010)






DXS tank:
It is 01/07 -printed on the bottle- (Born on January 2007 and a retest date on March 2012 - look at the sticker- )





Ninja Tanks:
This one is born on 07/09 -look on the label- (July 2009)







Pure Energy tanks:
This one is 09/05 -look on the bottom left- (September 2005)





CP tanks:
Born 09/07 -look on the label- (September 2007)




Guerrilla Air Tanks:
Born 04/09 -look in the white box- (April 2009)
