Internal combustion, spring or electronic are all better. Posted Image

Its entirely personal preference, you have to decide if you prefer the characteristics of a spool or poppet.

the closest your gonna get to a better is spool valve is a better performer (smoother shot less kicky ) when properly maintained , however they 'tend' to be less efficient and require more maintenance.

if you wanna look at the differences between the two internally go to this site has many examples

Well, you said "which is better," so that's why you got those answers. The generally accepted definitions are that in a spool, the bolt is the valve, and has a long travel (the whole cycle distance basically), while a poppet is a very quick opening, short moving valve.

depends on what you want from a gun.
The ultimate truth in paintball is that the interaction between the gun and the player is far and away the largest factor in accuracy, consistency, and reliability.

Those are not the "accepted" definitions, but let's not go there

I think the best quantitative characteristic you can judge a gun by is efficiency, which poppits tend to do better with than equivalent spoolies. That said, I find anything over 8 or 9 pods really doesn't matter as much, since I find it hard to carry that much paint, and plenty of spoolies and poppits can do that just fine.

I know a lot of people who really value the less-quantitative and more personal benefits of spoolies, with smoothness and such, as others have mentioned. Personally I've been leaning to poppits a bit more recently, but I am but a novice to gun-mania. So much to learn...
Rest in Peace, Borg.
